Console Doesn't Work Anymore

Hello. All of a sudden my console stopped working. I can no longer access it by pressing the ~ key. As a result, I cannot bind a key to it any longer.
1) Yes, "-console" is placed in the run line of the game icon.
2) Yes, I can select Console from the Half Life menu, but I cannot type anything into it, therefore I cannot bind a key to it.
Without console, the game is almost unplayable because I cannot read past messages, see who killed who, remap keys, or ANYTHING!
There is also no option for this under controls.
Any ideas? Please!!!
