Sticky Controls

<div class="IPBDescription">controls work funky</div> when i try to play half life i have problems with my controls. When i try to move forward and back and strafe to the sides it doesn't move like it should. instead it sits there for like 5 seconds before moving uncontrollably for a longer period of time. When this happens i cant attack or use anything to stop of escape. This makes it incredibally difficult to play.

Please help me!!!

P.S. I also have that crashing problem too <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Type "retry" to console after round ends, then it wont crash (if your NS always crash after round ends) <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I'm sure it's OpenGL emulation. Try to run the game in Direct3D mode.

    just "undo" the command.

    Example,
    You pressed strafe right, and you get stuck doing that.

    In the console (press the ~ key next to the 1 key) type "-moveright" (without the quotes) and press enter/return. Then press ~ again to return to the full game and enjoy your undrunk walking <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    works better with D3D? good, now upgrade your video card drivers.

    I'm getting a similar problem as described above, but a little different. First off I have a P4 1.8 ghz, running Win XP. I have an ATI mobility 32 meg card (this is a laptop btw) and I have 512 megs of ram (the video ram, and system ram ARE separate). halflife works great single player, and I even tried it over my LAN and it works great there too. But when I play NS, or even half life on the internet, I get terrible lag on my controls. (I have a ping of 100 though) I can mouse look perfectly, no lag, as long as I don't push anything else. But when I try to move and mouse look at the same time, both are very slow to respond, especially when I strafe. And when I let go it keeps moving for a bit, but stops eventually. Needless to say it makes the game unplayable. I have tried many different video types, D3D, openGL, and software. And many different resolutions. I have the latest video drivers as well. Nothing I try seems to help, yet I can't think of any reason why it would be slow. 100 ping is more than low enough. Any ideas?

    I am having the same problem with the delayed reactions ONLY while moving. Standing still mouselook works fine. I have tried this on a LAN by myself and it still happened. Ive tried both OpenGL and D3D with no luck for any resolutions. any help is greatly appreaciated.

    Thanks <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Call me a n00b but it sounds more like a modem issue. What do you use to connect to the internet, and do you have any other internet programs running? If you are on a slow modem and there's another program hogging your bandwidth (or if you're with a rubbish ISP) then it won't matter how good your pooter is, you'll have a really bad experience :-/

    I have the exact same problem - Half Life just acting extremely sticky when playing over multiplayer. I'm wondering if this is some sort of router issue, or if there are settings that you can try tweaking to fix this...

    I would just like to point out that it is NOT lag........I have tried in a LAN game by myself and am getting the same problem.......btw I have a cable modem and get pings of around 100 ms when I play....

    This happened to me. I have XP and one of those fancy schmancy keyboards with lots of shortcut buttons and even a wheel. Try uninstalling any keyboard software/drivers. Obviously, this dilapidates your keyboard for non-HL uses, but that worked for me.

    I FINALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM...........im not sure which of the two it is that fixed the problem cause I did them at the same time but I set the GeForce 2 to aggressive handling of applications through: display properties->settings->advanced->then (name of card tab)-> Performance/quality settings. I also in game enabled both EAX and A3D. This fixed the sticky control problem and now I can FINALLY play without problems. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo-->
