    Here is a screenshot of the latest version I've been working on:

    <img src='http://www.mercior.com/images/misc/sp_beta.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

    - Totally recoded GUI
    - Added mouse wheel panning (Hold down the mouse wheel button and drag to scroll around map)
    - Added phase gates
    - Added text labels
    - Upgradable Turret Factories

    Things yet to be done:

    - Multiple save files
    - Icons for marine placements

    Anything else you want to see in the new release? I won't ever be adding zooming! It will cause too many problems for me.

    Hey,
    Good work!

    Sorry if youve been asked this 1000 times, but in the new version is there the ability to drag the items around, but keep the range circles? When you are experimenting with where siege can reach etc, it would be nice to not have to keep picking up and dropping the cannon, if you could just drag it around, with range circle visible, that would be sweet!

    Also, when you pickup an item the picture is bigger than the actual item ( i believe when its placed its the correct size, but when dragging its too big). This makes placement awkward in tight locations, as your not sure exactly where the item will land.

    Just my 2...

    Cheers mate!

    For some reason in 1.2 the placement seems to be locked to some sort of grid, oh and there's no no-build area's marked. For example on Bast(I think) you cant build on the slope running down to Ventilation, could there be a no'build mask added?

    Those would be my two biggest complaints, so you're doing pretty well 'cos I'm a whingy b'stard <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Both were bugs caused by the old system. I won't be adding nobuild areas because it would require another file alongside the map file and basically is a pain to code, especially when you could just use common sense and not pace things where you know you cant build.

    ooooooo looks great.
    Mercior have you ever incounted "lag" problems? :O i think it was possibly because i was hosting and viewing or something, but text would suddenly fire at me form the the people, and if i clicked clear all i could never send any new messages or recieve any.

    this has happened a few times, is this because the server and client run on both port 10 000 ?

    Hmmm, I havent had any lag issues, and it uses a fairly robust packet system that should ensure all data arrives correctly. It wont be related to the port, either. Perhaps try getting somebody else to run the server?

    I'll probably release version 2.0 sometime this evening, I'm just testing it for stability.

    For your information, checking logs, we've reached well over the 1100 downloads mark so far and coming strong, over a gigabyte of traffic through stratplan with no signs of slowing :o

    1 last thing : "custom building"

    ie its a " ? " and you get to put in your own figure. this will allow the program to support all the other buildings you cant be arsed putting in yourself, and enemy aliens and thier structures could be moddelled using this <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    It would screw up the resource system as I see it, can't you simply put a tag there?
