Oc Farm The Marine Spawn

<div class="IPBDescription">how to waste their time and res</div> In a couple of recent games, a few rounds of succesful Skulk rushes had gotten the Marines off to a slow start. Despite this, they soon got a forward base in the Maintenance Access Hive. A few Skulk rushes destroyed the Phase but they couldn't destroy the TF because of the turrets. Since I had a lot of unused Res, I went Gorge and built some OC's and DC's right outside of the Marine base. Once the Marines realized that this way was blocked off they had two choices, either
<ul>
<li>forget about the Maintenance Hive and that entire side of the map
<li>use 50 expensive Res to build a Seige Cannon
</ul>
they chose the first. This continually brought them close to our Eclipse Hive where we easily desotryed them many times. The OC's farm also later helped the final Fade rush by healing them and shooting any Marines that chased them outside the Marine base.

If every alien went Gorge for a little bit when they have full resources, they could FILL the map with OC farms.

    Option 4: Kill the chambers with advanced weapons.
    Option 5: Jump the chambers, ignoring them.

    You couldn't have built _that_ many chambers.

    The marines were inexperienced. No other explanation for their behavior.

    Yeah, I wouldn't suggest tossing up OCs near the marine spawn in the early game. I've seen it done more effectively in the late game as a distraction measure, and as such it can work pretty well.

    I hate to jump on the bash bandwagon, but it sounds the same to me too.

    I've tried it, I've seen it tried, and it doesn't work, unless 2-3 gorges do it together, and speed build the OC's, and even then it's iffy.

    Plus, most decent marine teams slap up a siege in spawn eventually anyway, just to make it harder for Fades to pull spawn harassment (they have to walk further to heal)

    Its a fun way to finish the game as soon as you get level two hive tech if the marines are all defending there 2nd hive, dash into the spawn web the floor in a big area infront of the entrance, pull back build 2 of chambers 2 def jump on the def and stick an off on top of it, partually build each one then concentrate on an offy chamber if they kill any of the chambers replace it.

    As soon as its finished spam 6 more def chambers (8 in total) sally forth and let the webs fly.

    You have to know what you're doing and you have to be lucky enough to get at least 3 offensive towers up blocking a corridor with at least 1-2 defensive behind it before they notice, then you can hold off pretty much any marine attempt to break thru with freebie weapons if you placed your towers right. Build as many defensive and offensive towers as you can fit in a small area and heal any that get low, I do this all the time but you have to have a good sense of when this is a good tactic. When the marines have 3 phases up and HA this is NOT a good tactic.
