Would the team be willing to release a high-poly upgrade to NS for those with machines capable of handling it?

    I don't see how it'd be more work. The models are created in high-definition, and then simplified before going in... they can just skip the simplification process, or make it less of a simplification, and release it as a high-definition patch/pack.

    Question: would we need the high-definition pack that comes with Blue Shift in order for this to work if it were implemented?  I don't wanna buy that all that much....

    /me feels bad because his machine is 4 years old <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->
    There's nothing wrong with normal models. Don't you go making us people with older computers miss out on anything.

    Nah Highlander, you wouldn't need that. A high-definition pack merely would replace model files. It doesn't change the code of the game in any way.

    and actually im pretty sure the high definition pack that came with blue shift didnt change the code either, it just put high poly models in....

    Well, it just make aliens look much better. That of course is until you explode them in tiny, tiny piece that splater all around the room.

    Trane, ure way wrong about blue shift, the high def pack upgraded the poly limit for hl models to about 2-3 times higher so u couldnt just replace the blue shift models with other models to get higher detail <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

    I didn't think there'd be an actual poly limit, since they were designing the models, and could make the models with a limit in mind. But whatever the case, if there is a limit, NS can be made with a high definition pack in mind. CS has one, and people don't need to buy anything to get it.

    I'd actually prefer the original models in high-poly format. The Fusion ones for CS are all nice and everything, but I don't like how they did the CT models. Don't like the whole UN cap thing.

    Sorry, but the models were not created at higher poly sizes or higher res texture sizes, so there is not going to be a seperate high defination pack.

    I'm sure at some point if NS takes off and as more of the low end system users upgrade there will be some updating of the models.  But not for a while.
