Mic Problems

As above
I have what is apparently a pretty common problem. My voice sounds fine for like a second, then there is a constant echo over riding everything else. I've added that +voice_dsound thing, but it did not help. I'm running XP with Soundblaster Live if it matters..

BTW, in voice_tweak.exe I get super duper feedback. I would probably assume this was just normal feedback, except I have the exact same setup as I did several months ago and only now do I have this problem. I stopped playing HL for several months (NS brought me back, hehe) and then started using this, and now it doesn't work right.

Please help.

a common problem with aLOT of peoples mics is, theres a nifty play control thing on your comp i.e the little speaker icon in the far right of the toolbar at the bottom of your computer or where ever u choose to put it. then go to options>properties>check Every box just to beh safe, then go to the ADVANCED button on the microphone (make sure its not muted also) and click on the 1 mic boost [+20 dB], that HAS to be checked, when u check it u can hear yourself over your speakers/headphones when u talkinto your mic weather your in hl or not, when u get in hl just use your voice and it should have no problem

try updating your soundblaster drivers. NS crashed every 20th voice comm for me before i updated my drivers. works great now. i can now scream, yell, and bring forth obsenities from my foul mouth without having to worry about a crash.
