Omg its bob!
Planet Halflife has pictures of the Bob model!
Anyways, lemme just say what I said before. It looks wonderful. I want to see this thing in action. And just about the only problem is that it seems a bit blocky in the stomach to hind legs region.
Heh. The Lev1 really turned out fantastically. We were all jumping around high-fiving in the dev forum when Westward and Cory unveiled him. He is currently being animated and is, well, a bad ### mofo.

3d studio max's native renderer does more effective anti-aliasing and shading, among other things. It also takes a second or two to render something like this out. Half life's engine needs to pump out 30+ of these per second, so obviously, the quality has to be a bit less than what you'd find in a 3d package.
Regardless, this thing is going to look f-ing beautiful in game . . .
Bob has -always- been beautiful. *hugs Bob, then kisses him right between those glowing eyes*
Will those eyes -really- glow in game? Even if the glow only occurs during the use of a specific ability?
I'm not sure if or when we'll put the glow in, but I know Cory and others really want it. Max's lighting does indeed look better then HL's rendering, but once you add animation and context (maps, wall-climbing, music, etc.), I think he'll look better in-game then he does right now.

Well, he does look great! At least hge's not blue & pink! Only one problem though: "exploding himself into a shower of acidic bile and bones" <-- Bile is alkaline!
Not for these aliens! They've got acid in their -veins- man! (Actually, for all I know, they've got water in their veins.... but ya need an explanation for the pain associated with being hit by an exploding Bob, and so it's acidic. )
Yikes. Good catch on the chemical composition. Bile is what counteracts the acid. As you probably know from my recent birthday, it was 12 years ago the last time I had a Bio class. Oops.
Nice Bob pics! I think Moleculor wants Bob centerfolds now.

I haven't had a Chem class in three years, but I think a basic solution would "melt" your skin, while and acidic solution would "burn" it.
Also, what I remember from Chem (not that long ago for me. Definitely sooner than old man MonsE.), basic solutions would hurt, so either way it's good. Might I again emphasize the 'suspension of disbelief' factor here. Maybe Bob is made of Boiling water, or maybe even napalm.
Ach. Who's to say that the aliens don't have alkaline digestion (as opposed to acidic earth-mammals) with acidic bile to counteract it. But yes, take it from someone who deals at work with training on chemistry of strongly alkaline solutions used in wood pulping and recovery. Alkaline chemicals can burn just as readily as acids. Sodium hydroxide, otherwise known as lye, has a pH of 14, as alkaline as you can get. It is used to dissolve wood chips and can easily dissolve flesh, especially when it's hot.

Great work there Cory and Westward!

Awesome work.
Now, I have a question. Why are 'renders' always -way- more detailed than in game models?
Regardless, this thing is going to look f-ing beautiful in game . . .

I wouldn't dare making fun of him now!
OMG what a nice model!
And it really does look like the concept art!
Does any one have the old picture of bob?
