I call it PAYING ATTENTION TO YOUR TEAM
I know there's been a lot of these posts but apparently nobodys listening to them -_- I'd like to emphasize this, YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING. I just got through with a game, and although we won, It was very poorly played by my team. I was gorge, and the map was...ns_tanith I think. We started at the Waste Handling hive, marines quickly secured Satellite Communications, I gorged and moved to take Fusion Reactor. The hive is about halfway built when I see a marine coming through the door. I retreated and he failed to follow, so I built two offense chambers just incase he decided to come in. Then i hear building...i can tell by the sound there's 2 marines building something. I poke my head out and look...a phase gate, typical. So i get on the comm and say "Guys I need help, they're building phase outside fusion" ...

*minutes pass, no response*

Then about 5 mins later, theyve got a phase gate and theyre harassing my poor wall of lame =( and one skulk runs out there and says "omfg, they have a phase gate outside our hive!!'

..........

About this time the hive goes up, and I alone take out the gate myself. I rushed in and webbed the area up, followed by a few offense chambers to take out the gate and secure the area. Eventually one skulk came along and helped by biting the gate. So i proceed to defend the hives, build movements, etc. Later on, the marines try to come into Fusion Reactor, but fail so instead they decide to siege crawl (lazy **** marines, build siege for 2 offense chambers, psht...) So I'm asking for backup, but my team refuses to respond. I keep asking, telling them theyre trying to build. Finally i got **** and shouted COME ON GUYS THEYRE GOING TO SIEGE OUR freaking HIVE WAKE THE HELL UP. After this 2 skulks came and promptly delivered some judgement to the marines...and i expanded my defenses on the hive.

Now, the team just gave up paying attention completely. They all left to attack the marines base...No care for the third hive, not at all...not even enough care to stop and kill the res tower outside the hive. So i went and did it myself, I ran in and built a few OC's, all they had was three turrets. THREE TURRETS. I asked for backup simply to make it faster but nobody cares to help me...I wouldve gotten the hive back too, but a heavy armor with a GL came in and blew up my turrets...=(

We eventually won...but I consider this game a failure. On a scale of 1 to 10 the teamwork factor for this game was 0. I just want to remind everyone that NS is not Quake 2 Rail Arena deathmatch, pay attention to your team, especially the gorges when they need protection. Running off on your own to rack up kills doesnt help your team unless your doing it in a manner that prevents marines from expanding (and you should tell your team to help with this too...) Communication and strategy are key here. Well, that's all I wanted to say...hope my littel speal inspires some people to pay more attention in game.

Wow. That's an amazingly bad game.

    Actually, thats becoming common place.

Many times i find myself wondering how the hell my team let them get 2 hives.

I know why, becuase everyone runs off, finds little pockets of marines, and they never stick together to make a assult.

Early game skulks are better off in packs of 2 or 4, not 1 going against 4 marines.

Yup, im trying to figure out of if im the only person who is not braindead when i play on a server.

I dont think i have some enlightened senses, but i always seem to know whats going on, where were attacking, where were being attacked, even with marines. It's really not that hard, just listen to voicecomm, and read the team messages, and youll find out everything you need to know. Its so simple!

Yea... absolutely true... but i stay on the 1.04 servers, it seems that there are most of the time good players

since the servers I play on are getting regulars, its become a lot easier not to go insane trying to cajole "team"mates into working together. yay for teamwork.

Was this on the Spies.com server, after (IIRC) an Alien win on ns_nothing? If so, I was spectating that, and didn't see anything wrong. Sure, it took a while for the other guys to get there, that's to be expected. They could've been halfway across the map, or finishing off a couple marines, or healing up so they didn't cost the team extra res re-evolving their favorite abilities when they died, or any number of other things. You did a great job holding the 'rines back until your teammates could get there, though I will admit that it looked like there was a lack of motivation for the marines. They were base-level, maybe with a few upgrades, and I'm suprised they didn't run around your offense chambers and take you out.

Besides, you won, so WTF are you complaining about?

Maybe because it wasn?t a good game. Sure, you can win a hundred times against a sucky marine team, but if your teammates simply ignore you and each other and even refuse to help taking the hives there really isn?t much fun to have IMHO.

Read before you post. I CLEARLY stated it was ns_tanith and I threw in so many hive names how could you assume it was ns_nothing. And I also noted that we did win but the game was poorly played. That was my whole point in those post, to point out how pathetic the game was because even though we won our team did not work together at all.

Do you worry that your teammates might stop listening to you because you're whiny? I mean, you did just post a 5-paragraph lecture about how This Isn't Quake 2 Anymore and Nobody Cares To Help You and whatnot.

Heh. This happened to me for the first time a few games ago. I was frantically yelling for backup over voicecom all through the game, and nobody helped me.

Actually, it turned out that my mic wasn't plugged in properly. In a later game, someone was finally considerate enough to tell me that no sound was coming through my voicecom. Nobody was coming to my aid because they couldn't hear me

Yeah, I checked that too just incase my mic had stopped working again...I said over the voice comm "can you guys hear me?" and they all replied yes. o_o
