How Well Would My Comp Do...

if i ran a server on my XP2000, with 256MB 2100 ram on winXP pro and a somewhat saturated cable connection, how many players could i have playing before it had noticable lag?

    damn you, beat me to it. But he's right 12-16 players max.

    i run 14 on a totally unsaturated network. you'll really need to tweak your network settings because cable is kinda hard to host on.

    Would suggest doubling your RAM too if possible, but then otherwise the bottle neck will be your connection.

    I second the "get more RAM" movement. Windows is going to chew up a lot of that 256MB.

    Do you know the upstream and downstream speeds of your cable connection?

    ya more ram is the next upgrade for my comp, gonna buy a 512 stick and sell my 256. It's PNY, anyone interested?


    oh and i'll do a bandwidth test when i go home
