Under the textures tab when you view a model use the "export" button, give the selected texture(the one in the little pull down box e.g. |<u>V</u>| I'veNeverSkinnedB4.bmp. Then mess around with the file in a paint program and when your done, use the import button in a similar fashion(I'd assume you have to give the new texture the same name as the old one, or else recompile the model to use differently named textures). By the way, I've never modelled or skinned anything, but I essentially read this the other day in another post.
