What Is The Most Annoying Thing As A Marine?

Backseat commanders (marines that think for some reason they should be giving the commander orders).

People who ask for anything AT ALL, other than health or ammo, without explaining why. Sorry, but I have plans for every last point. You'd better give me a good reason to change my plan. If you say "C0m d0rp meh @ $h0tty" you ain't gettin' jack, if you say "drop me a shotgun and I'll use it to blast their O chambers while ducking in and out of cover while these three cover me, and then we'll be able to take the hive" You're getting your shiny new toy.

People saying the aliens have individual resources and the marines share theres. It's simply the other way around. The commander's job is to control the teams resources. The aliens actually share the income, while the whole of the marine team's resources are the commander's resources. An individual might get control over a portion of those resources in the form of new weapons, armor, or a jetpack, but then, and only then, does the team share.

People saying "we lose." Ever. Either it's apparent to the whole team, or it's NOT, and all pointing it out is going to do is lower morale, and thus make it more likely that we'll lose, and lose horribly at that.

Getting stuck on another marine on a phase gate or stepping off one into an bottomless pit/slime pool 'cause it was placed too close to the edge.

Getting stuck in slanted ceilings 'cause the IP/PG is too close to the wall.

Getting stuck under a structure.

Getting stuck on a slanty wall next to a structure.

I guess I just hate getting stuck in general... Need to bind a key to 'kill'.

Oh yah, forgot a few...

Waiting for the comm chair to get destroyed when the comm is the last surviving marine and everything else is gone.

Waiting for some dude trying to be cute by hiding in a vent when he's the last surviving marine and there's no structures, just go out and die dude. You won't lose any respect, heck, I'll even respect you more.

Comms who don't know what a grenade launcher is and think they need to build a siege every time they see a few enemy structures.

Comms who refuse to upgrade marines and build lots and lots of turrets instead.

Marines that refuse to weld each other, this is frustrating both for the comm and fellow marines.

Marines that "need ammo!!!" when there's a phase gate right next to them with an ammo depot on the other side.

Marines that leave their posts without telling anybody, if the comm tells you to guard a hive, guard it dangit!

Getting eaten by a skulk while reloading/building. Part of the game, yes, but still damn annoying.

1) Marines who whine about being expected to take on a Fade with LA/LMG.
2) Marines who whine for HA/HMG
3) Marines who kick me from the Comm Chair, then refuse to take the CC other than to drop themselves their toy of choice
4) Bunnyhoppers (Looks stupid, is an exploit as far as I'm concerned)
5) Hitbox-exploiters staying alive when they weren't giving supporting fire while you die
6) Marines expecting shotguns before even one resource node has been captured
7) Marines wanting to be able to heal/arm/resupply themself regardless of the Comm
8) Morons singing/playing music constantly over voicecomm
9) Marines who F4 as soon as ONE Fade is sighted, regardless of if they're defending the hive we grabbed or not
10) Whiny Marines who get eaten time and time again coming on the forums and complaining

People who whine and don't fix things for them selves, this goes for aliens and marines.

I mean you have done almost all the things on your lists! You weren?t born 1337, cut n00bs some slack. I do admit there are stupid people in the world, but the stupider people are the ones who don't try to help the ill experienced others and just label and shun them!

Actually, I haven't done any of the items on my list (except if you count contributing to this thread as number 10). I'm just annoyed when I Comm, and that stupid cr*p happens. And people wonder why there are so few competent Commanders... it's because they've been shellshocked back to grunt-hood by the morons, and REFUSE to get back in, regardless of the situation, because they know that if the situation looks grim, and it's time to pull out the stops and go into captain insane-o mode.. they won't have anyone left, the game will be over, everyone on their team will likely have gone back to the RR before they have a chance to mastermind a stunning comeback.
Not even talking about going up against Fades, which is just a part of the game. Catch it early on, take them one at a time, and the game is FAR from over. Quit... well... that's the time when we need a 'shoot X in the head' button, to deal with troops who fled from battle.

Agreed. But it helps alot when the new players admit to being new. If they come in with a "I pwnz0r CS, don't tell me what to do" attitude and proceed to suck... I'm sorry but I feel the label "n00b" is in order.

Actual conversation:

"I'll kick your *posterior* in CS!"

"So? I do the same to you in: Starcraft, Age of Empires 1&2, Warlords Battlecry, Warhammer, D&D, AD&D,

Serious Sam, Rainbow Six, BF1942, Empire Earth, AvP, AvP 2, All the Mechwarrior games, Black and White,

Civ games, Railroad Tycoon, Diablo 1&2, Magic: The Gathering, Sub Command, Disciples 1&2...

But that has nothing to do with my playing ability on NS...now does it?

Put up or shut up, twit!"

So your saying [Talesin] force them to learn or boot them out, theirs no fun or trial and error?

Games like NS have to be taken lightly because so much is on your teammates shoulders and your teammate might not be able to handle the weight. So if you know more and can do more, do it and show the n00b that’s how you kick some skulk ****. Then you will have helped one player become like yourself, you being the pro that you are!

When did I say anything of the sort? Think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I'm applying it to the behaviours on the list. I'm not suggesting 'kicking [anyone] out', I'm ticked when *I* get kicked, so some moron can jump in and drop himself HA/HMG when I was saving up RP for a forward base, armor/weapon upgrades, or whatnot... and they jump out to go ramboing off, not STAYING in the CC to command. Whereupon I can't get back in, having been booted by the idiot who wanted his toys.

Similarly, the 'shoot X in the head' button for those who desert in the middle of a game. F4'ing is just lame. Everybody fights. No one quits. Just need the 'or I'll shoot you myself' part to back it up. Maybe have it so that if there ARE a number of people who RR to end a match, they get tempbanned for a certain amount of time, or kicked from the server for the next round or three.

Gah! I hate anybody who crouches like that (vents are another matter, you have no choice), or uses any exploit. I'd much rather lose honestly than win dishonestly in a game.

EDIT: People fresh from 'realism' mods are excused, as often, crouching increases accuracy. Hell, I did it when I came over from DoD.

I must object to this. There are other reason to crouch than to use the exploit.
I do it quite often when I want to move silently, not be seen to easily or simply to enable the others in my squad to shoot over my shoulder.
My point being that you sometimes need to crouch even if your not in a vent and then you get the exploit wheter you want it or not

Yea, but you get some people who, upon seeing a skulk, jam themselves into a corner and duck, flagrantly abusing the exploit. That's what I'm talkinbg about.
