Then the commander is quite busy with many things, and because of that just often does not notice resource towers being taken out by aliens.

Then by the time the marines come ask for another HA+HMG (and what not), marines are low on resources. So the comm can't hand out enough equipment, and the rest is history.

I think it easier for aliens to keep enough resource nodes because that is the responsibility of (one or a few) individual players who's main task it is to set up res towers and defenses. Gorgs will almost inevitably notice when their resouce income is slow, and they can do something about it on their own accord. Also when res nodes and its defenses are being attacked, each individual alien gets that information and can act on it.

With marines -only- the comm is warned about res nodes under attack. And while it is the comms' responsibility to keep an eye on the res nodes (by noticing and acting on the warnings), he does have many many many other this to do (while a gorg doesn't have that problem).
This i think is why lost res nodes are often overlooked by marines, which causes them losing the game.

    I think u got a good point here,
    add the self-healing power of the aliens, and u find yourself thinking: How can marines ever win this game, but it happens.

    Marines is all about teamwork. I think it's as much a marines responsibility as a commanders, to make sure res-towers r in good shape, and if not, notify the commander, because (as u said) the commander is WAY TO BUSY to notice. I have commanded once or twice, and u really don't have time to go to every resource-tower, to check how it's doing.

    so marines:
    Help your commander... Don't whine for stuff, tell him where res-towers can be build, but don't start whining about restowers after 5 sec game, in the middle of the map...

    Yes marines, aliens have hivesight, they know instantly when something is under attack and might go there to chew your face while u r busy killing a res-tower.

    teamwork also includes, covering eachother WITHOUT standing in eachothers field of fire, keep eachother welded, look behind u occasionally, and use your motion-tracking.
    cause when marines die, they cost resources, not by spawning, but by loosing ha/hmg, and really, those thing r freaking expensive.

    one thing here, the aliens are <i>much</i> more able to win the resource war

    both marine and alien resource towers have 5400 hp. thats almost as much as a hive

    thats nearly 11 clips of lmg ammo, so if you are going to shoot it, it will take more than one marine.

    If you are going to knife it, it's going to take somewhere around two minutes.

    During that two minutes every skulk is going to know you are doing it, and at least one will probably make his speedy way to where you are to eat you, probably still while you are waving your knife around.

    skulks are fast, they can check nodes quickly, and when they do find them, kill them quickly

    so, resource hunting is a viable strategy for an alien, but not viable for marines, beause of the extra work required

    i can barely get marines to go to a hive by typing in all caps and repeatedly giving them waypoints, i know i'm not going to get them to organize a resource raid quickly or effectivly enough for it to be worthwhile.

    in my opinion a good change would be to reduce the health of alien resource towers, to make the marine side of resource raiding viable

    I agree totally with the original poster. I don't know what happened, but in v1.00 people used to scream "Free Resource here!", much, much more aggressivly. Especially at the beginning, when you can't build a TF and 5 sentries to every available resource nozzle, the aliens can really keep marine economy low by taking the RTs out. It happens too often that when marines have secured an area, they move on and never return even to check if the RT is still standing. Still, after the marines have secured 2 hives and they have their main base, it doesn't really matter how low your income is as long as you can turtle the sites, but if the fight continues, resources are usually the reason for failure.
