New board feature

MoleculorMoleculor Namer-of-Bob Join Date: 2002-01-24 Member: 9Members
If you haven't already noticed, there's a new board feature at the bottom of every post (Thank you Flayra! ). At the bottom of every post is a link labeled "Report this post to moderator". It's purpose is to notify out moderators (namely me and Spyder Monkey) of offensive, severly pointless, or off-topic posts. When in doubt, go ahead and click, because checking a post that might be slightly questionable won't take us all that long, and we'd rather catch everything instead of letting something slip by.

This has been a public service announcement brought to you by WallClimbing™ Inc. Thank you and have a Good Day™.

What if you have jumpy fingers like me (probably from all the years of paranoid TFC sniping) and accidently click it when scrolling down, is there a confirm and cancel button? If your on high reselution its really close to add reply.

Don' worry, when you click on the link it takes you to a screen in which you have opportunity to type in a message to the moderators describing the incident (I'm glad you asked, or I never would have clicked the link). You can hit your back button then.

I want to report Moleculor for all these bob posts. Physician, heal thyself!

Actually, this is a great additional perk of the new Forums. We've always prided ourselves on how good our community is, and how it has managed to avoid lots of trolls and flame wars. This will go a long way towards that.

Moleculor and myself are dedicated to the 'moderator' positions. I will have no problem reading through 20 e-mails of reported posts, as long there is good reason. What you, the user, should know is that it records who sent the report, as well as your e-mail address. Abuse just might result in unpleasant things happening. A lot more than Bob threats of violence. >:|

For example, TWO Bob's... Or something like that. Anywho, yeah, we'll end up locking down your account if you abuse that option. But trust me, it'll take a lot of work to abuse it, so you won't have to worry about one or two or three bad reports getting you locked down or anything.

And by Bad Reports, I'm sure he means blatently bad. As long as you had good intentions when you reported, no harm will come to you. Now, if you report something that is non-offensive and doesn't cross any lines, and we can tell that you were just being crazy when you did it... harm might escape you, but not your family.

    What's worse than Bob?

    A herd of Bobs.

It's quite refreshing to see that kind of dedication these days. Have you ever visited the Counter-Strike forums? Dear lord, how could you look over THAT cespool of garbage and flames?

In any case, I look forward to becoming a regular here, and I will enjoy annoying you all with my suggestions and random thoughts.

... when I actually get to PLAY this game that is. ;P

You do that, and we lock your account so fast you'll see tiny little Bob's floating around your head.

Not sure if that was sarcasm or not (my sarcasm-meter has been broken the past few days...) but I know you were joking 'bout the clicking of the links thing.

I think you should give up on trying to have the last word with Moleculor, he can lock threads.
  • Silver_FoxSilver_Fox Spammer Join Date: 2002-01-24 Member: 34Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
    lol .. true ...

I mean .. if he wanted to stoop that low, just to get the last word then I guess I couldnt do anything about it ...

however it seem like the cowards way to go. What fun is it if you cant play the "omg I got the last word you hoser" game?

In the interest of not making the worlds largest thread, I won't respond.

    well, thats good ...

have you ever seen the Opera's message board? They have a thread called "The mindless thread"

Its like ... 200 pages long or something ...
  • MoleculorMoleculor Namer-of-Bob Join Date: 2002-01-24 Member: 9Members
And I bet if anything ever got that large 'round here, it'd crash the board. *locks the thread before this thing grows out of control*
