Offline Training

Is there a way to get a game going offline where you can build stuff and so on solo just to get a feel of the ropes as a commander or a gorge? All I'm wanting to do is work on placing buildings, etc... but the game won't start w/o someone else. There a way to force it to start?

    Open up the console and type in "sv_cheats 1". This will allow you to play the game normally even though there's nobody else on the server. It'll also massively speed up building and research times, and you can gain extra resource points by typing "givepoints" into the console, all so you can see what's in the tech tree.

    If you just want to train in offline mod go as follow:

    Get into NS.
    Open a new Lan-Game.
    - If half-life ns doesnt display the ns_ prefixed maps select anotherone and start the langame.
    Now get into the console by pressing cyrcumflex. (Button next to the number 1)
    Enter the command "maps ns" (without the "")
    Select a map by entering the command "map xxx" (xxx is for the selected map, without "")
    Play!!!

    If you have still any questions email me!

    Let me add that through familiarizing myself w/being a commander offline by building, learning the layout, and practicing some, I managed to command my first game and lead the marines to a crushing victory w/some good teamwork and fast action. I'm not so sure the aliens were up to snuff, but regardless, it felt good to at least have a clue when I got in the seat and helped lead the marines. Great way to break into commander play.

    first ns_bast then the world!!!!

    always nice to have a good commnader who knows where stuff is , but still bad commnaders have to learn the same as the rest of us learned , its just that when ns came out it was more exepitable for you to be a poor commader but now we all want a good one all the time.

    still well played <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
