<div class="IPBDescription">Savage preview @ GameSpot</div> <a href='http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/previews/0,10869,2907730,00.html' target='_blank'>http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/previ...2907730,00.html</a>

I can't help but be struck by some of the similarities between NS and Savage, scheduled for this summer. Commander mode, nature vs technology, the whole FPRTS thing, a lot of the phrases used to describe this game sound remarkably like those used to describe NS. Comments?

    I don't know if it'd be all that bad. Although, I suspect it would feel somewhat different from NS. It's really no more like NS than Battlezone (I and II) was.

    I've heard that Savage was in development before NS, which is possible. Even if it wasn't, you can't expect NS to be the only "RTS FPS" that ever was and ever will be - that just won't happen. Development companies that haven't even HEARD of NS are probably planning RTS FPS right now, or have even started development on them. NS is great, but it's not the end-all of this genre.. treating it like that is screaming elitism.

    Savage differs from NS in a lot of ways besides. Computer controlled workers gathering resources? In NS, there are only stationary resource collectors... Savage is more like Warcraft or the Age of _____ series in that regard. Computer controlled 'Creep' monsters on the map? Warcraft III there. The commander's interface is much more "RTS" than NS's top-down view. The content is completely different, with a crude culture facing a technological one. Etc., etc.

    So.. be objective, don't pounce on Savage and scream "it's a copy of NS!" just because you can, or think you can.

    I read the article and indeed does it sound a lot like NS. Be it this is some sort of WCIII meets (Turok? Really what should I put here?). Sounds like fun tho. Hope it isn't crappy.

    I can see one thing they're going to change in the first patch (Or pre-release):

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
    As a commander, you'll get resources by ordering your worker units to mine them, though you can also gain gold whenever your teammates score kills on enemy players or destroy enemy buildings.
    <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    You have to order your 'peons'(<!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->) to mine resources. I don't think any sane person, who, as we know, is taking a break to relax or an 8 year old, will start mining resources! It's bad enough getting people to BUILD things, let alone sit around for a good amount of time mining some damned RT.

    Whoever thought of THAT feature is probably straight out of college and has no idea how many people will say:
    "it ok i real good kill many and get u res"

    Edit: Unless I misunderstood that damned statement, and they mean that you buidl worker units which build stuff for you...
