Im stilling testing this and I'm testing other things too, like whether I can move around in cloaking to a marine encampment, as turrets do not fire on cloaked creatures, and acid rocket it from afar.
This works in the new version of 1.04 though, not sure in others.
I'm going to continue my research, if you guys have any info on fade cloaking, tell me.

You can usually Parasite once or twice as a Skulk, for example, but if you're a Lerk and you use a single shot of Spore, more than half the time you'll UnCloak.
As far as moving while Cloaked, the trick is to make really small "tapping" motions on your strafe key. You can move approximately one body length (as a Skulk, at least) before you DeCloak. So it's not like you can magically run across the map while invisible. It's a slow, slow process, and in the time it took you to get across the map, the marines could have sieged a hive into oblivion.
What's wierd with the uncloaking is that you can parasite, then wait then parasite again, but sometimes the second parasite uncloaks you, and sometimes even the first one does... It's so totally random that it's near useless to try to do.
I played sensory first last night on a 1.04 server, then defence second, we were doing really well, cleared out the third hive, but we couldn't hold it long enough to get a hive up, but they couldn't take either of the other two hives (we were on tanith) despite sieging from red room and everything. It's not a bad stratagey, only problem is fades get energy so slowly without adren that it took me like two minutes to acid rocket the phase gate in powersilo to death.
And yes, it seems that cloaking is kinda random when you shoot acid rockets, but it's an excellent sniping tool, and quite fun.

I still think cloaking is most useful in the amusement factor. Marines stumbling into you, and being instantly gibbed is so rewarding. This is a game after all, and amusement is imporpant <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

You can move at nearly unlimited speeds with the strafe modifier (fixed in 1.04), and it is an exploit. However, the "legitimate" way to do this is to tap the keys ever so slightly. There's been a great, in-depth thread about this. That's why we need more stickies.
