Map name: ns_underground
Type: Underground mine
Premise: A long running tsa mining facility has been out of contact for a long time. Accompanying a loss of power the kaharaa decided to invade this facility simply because of the ease (due to power failure). The kaharaa have infested only the lower areas and leave the surface untouched.
As the frontiersman come in to investigate they find that they can only get through a few doors which the kaharaa have broken (all other doors at this time including elevators and lights are non-functional) which limits them to the top floor only. The marines soon discover the back up generator, which has to be welded to turn on (when turned on not all doors are functional yet the lifts do) after 5 minutes all other doors will be operable*.
Having started the power the marines must rid the ventilation system of the poisonous gasses, by reactivating the atmospheric generator.(at that time any alien in the ventilation system will be flushed out*)
Two of hive location’s are in the actual mine tunnels and the last will be placed in a water treatment system (making any leaking water do hazard damage).
* = not sure if either of these ideas can be implemented but it would kick **obscenity** if they could.
Here’s a basic idea of what I think the level should look like if anyone would want to try ad map this.

-dark gray blob is cc
-two blue boxes are elevators
-red box is back up generator
-green circle is res node
-two blue-ish green circle are atmosphere generators

The list is endless aslong as you have precious metals and an imagination. Or a nak for science (magnesium can also be mined)
So theres plenty of mining to go round! One could even be a spacestation located on the side of a volcano? Who knows,
The Marines are hard pressed for time as it is!
This thread over at the verc i started is filled with things such as the files and locations of tutorials to get you started.
Its a list of everything i consider to be a good mapping resource which i know of. THough designed to help people with counterstrike the list is very general as i only added countermap for it specifically.
Should help you get started.
I do intend one day to get somewhere on this level, i do not know if you knew yesukai from days of old who was doing a mine map, i was going to team up with him but DT has been bloodi bogged down right now.
I think if it can be done well then it will be superb. In mines you have obiously the mine areas it's self.
Human barracks area with there their facilities such as rest rooms, cantines
Control facilities
Docking bays
Possible a power generator.
Something i thought would be good was something similiar to the bridge of kazadum if you've seen lotr or read the book. Though not being as small. But have it set above a huge canyon in the floor which would be real awe inspiring to look down there and just watch it drift off into black.
The map will look nothing like that im just to lazy to put all the details into an MSpaint drawing
