<div class="IPBDescription">comments?</div> just showing the layout for the moment.. this is a screenshot from hammer. the hallways are all layed out, but i havent added any vents. ill add some ingame shots as i finish detailing/lighting areas, along with location names. any comments on potential problems, etc, are welcome..

    Looks pretty good! get some vents in there that aliens can crawl through (maybe you could convert that small tunnel from the left of the middle hive into one). I'd love to see some ingame shots of this!

    one small problem i see, the hives are more close together than they are close to the marine start, this could lead to inbalance as the marines may find it hard to beat the aliens to capturing a hive. it all depends on gameplay and team skill i know. but just a constructive bit of criticism :E

    One way to slow time between hives without adding more rooms would be to add slow opening doors between them... or elevators with a roof so that even skulks have to push the button to go either up or down.

    It looks small, check that you can't siege 2 hives from 1 spot. The basic layout is similar to the one I used for NS_Atomicmass and NS_11th_hr, both suffered from this problem.

    to give some sense of scale.. the left and right hives are both at the edge of the map. ill see what can be sieged from where at some point today..

    ADVICE: Don't Make A Layout. I know many of us (including the authors of official maps) have made layouts. I know for a fact that ns_eclipse has virtually changed in layout from paper to in-game. If you have to make a layout make it straight lines and squares.

    BTW: Not bad, chrome and system have made valid points that I agree on. I also must ask for some weldables.

    Ima n00b, but I'm learning:

    Seems like the 2nd res point from marine spawn is a mighty short walk.

    The hives seem to have overly convient access to each other. The marines can't really stop aliens from going between them in that bottom corridor. I think that it's a little bit dangerous for a gorge to go from hive to hive early in most maps.

    what im must concered about is the you maybe can siege 2 hives from ones location, or you can siege 1 hive from another hive location....

    Angel, I disagree. I drew a plan for my map on paper, Ns_Titan 6, and it's coming together really well. I have changed a few parts, but it's still coming together the way I drew it out. Sometimes I find it best to draw out the plan and draw quick sketches of rooms whilst I'm motivated and inspired, so when I become unmotivated and uninspired, I can refer back to the images I drew.

    I suppose different people find it easier to work in a way that suits them best.

    got some areas lit with some decent details, still planning to add more.. (infestation, etc)

    oh, also, its not possible to siege 2 hives from the same place.. theyre pretty far apart

    SamR: I am making two maps. One I have changed alot in the first 2 corridors and 1 room. The other I have done spawn and main corridors and 3 rooms coming off of it. That map I have not changed it the slightest. Although most the time only a vague layout is a proper use of time.

    Another problem with this layout is that the Hives are very close together, but the Marine Spawn is a considerable travelling distance from all of them. Plus, virtually all the res points are around the alien hives.
