Healing Spray Question

eoneon Join Date: 2002-12-31 Member: 11675Members
First off, I'm wondering why healing spray doesnt heal the gorge who uses it <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo--> You think you'd get some of it on you or something ;0

the main question though is, while a gorge is building a structure(like an o chamb), if he uses healing spray while building it, does this speed up the building?

I would think that it wouldn't, but i've seen a lot of gorges doing it lately, and earlier when I was playing, i tried building a res tower and using healing spray while it was building, and it looked like it was going up a little faster.

No, I don't think healing spray works on structures before they are completed.

In response to your idea, meh. Invincible gorges = bad.

It used to speed up building but it was fixed in 1.02 I believe. <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo-->

It doesn't speed up building, but it doesn't stop you either, so you can use it to heal surrounding buildings if you're building under fire (very useful if you're building a defense chamber behind some offence chambers and they come under fire). I've also killed someone who tried to jump the OCs and shoot me with the spray! Go gorge!

What most don't realize is that the spray has a pretty awesome range. I don't have any exact figures but it reaches several gorge lengths, at least, much further than the spray graphics would indicate.

I think lots of gorges use healing spray to build structures because they don't know that they have to hold the same button as marines use to build stuff.

Heal Spray != Umbra. It does not automatically surround you. It comes out of your mouth and hits things in front of you.

You can heal yourself by using Heal Spray and then walking forward into the spray.

The description for the heal spray says the range is 400, whatever that number means.

doesn't siege have a range of 1100? so you can heal like a 1/3 of the range of a siege?!

    basically.

and if you put two acid rocket explosion diameters end to end, you'd get a range of 400.

its like... a bit more tahn the "instakill" range of a shotgun

Likewise, if you have a couple broken skulks nearby, you can glue them back together without pausing your building. Doesn't come up often with "builder" gorges, but "frontline" gorges are often surrounded by aliens in various states of disrepair.

As far as healing while building, and interesting note is that buildings in the process of being built (You are holding your Use key on them) are pretty much invulnerable outside of siege

I'd like to see some testing of this, as this holds true with my experience. If I'm trying to slow down a HA+HMG guy, and I drop two or three OCs, the one I'm building never goes down, but the unattended ones drop nearly instantaenously. What if you build each one for a half-second or so before focusing on a single chamber? Will that give them the near-invulnerability?
