i have been asked for model ideas cos i keep complaining about all the AVP stuff...so i waitied...and waited...and..er...waited for the master chief model to appear...but it hasnt!! so i would like one made <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

i know there has been one coverted from CS/FA but i want one that looks really like the original Master chief...also, id love to have that shiny visor...has anyone done a shiny visor effect before?? i think someone has...

    it is shiny i must agree, but i think its just a texture...it doesnt actually react to light in the way that i was talking about....or does it?

    i dont think you can make the textures in halflife react to the light...

    It's just Half-Life's fake chrome effect. It's as good as you're going to get with the HL engine.

    I know, Souris. I was wondering how you did it, since turning the option on in MS3D didn't make the Doom guy's visor shiny for me. Or at least it didn't appear to to me, since other people had to do it themselves...

    Yes it did, They thing is that when you rotate the model it doesn't change the faceing of the model and therefor the chrome doesn't change. Try it again and watch the death animations where the head moves around alot.

    I hear that the HALO2 model (the real one, made by bungie) has a LOWER polycount than the Halo 1 model. Just some useless trivia for you people who realy don't give a crap.

    i knew that...the reason being, the guns are going to be on screen, more often, so they have a higher poly count than the player model....yes, another pointless fact...

    Halo 2 MC looks almost the same...the difference is just that he has moving fingers, hands and a lower polycount because of bump mapping.

    hmm... bump mapping is not very spectacular..i think they will use displacement mapping

    I was going to convert the MC model for NS for the HA guy.
    But it's damn impossible!
    The reference.smd 's skeleton is... well.. moved out of place! It's like its in the middle of an anim! It's not "standing straight up,hands on it's side, legs perfectly aligned to one another"... no! it's all moved! Which makes assigning bones impossible! Beleive me.. it looks AWFUL when i compiled it!

    Just look!
    And i did my best to assign the vertices but.. somehow, every single fking join is like.. rotated 90 degrees!

    I've been the unhappy recipient of that error too. All I've found to fix it is to delete the skeleton, reimport it and reassign it. Repeatedly, if necessary. Silly joints turn on their sides, then completely backwards... Guh! The first player model I tried to compile did that. Scared the living crap out of me. But I stuck to it and came out with something that worked.
