<div class="IPBDescription">Really they are</div> I'm a major NS fan, but do the NS forums have to resemble the buggy CS forums when they started? I mean can you just not do anything and leave the forums to themselves, or WTF IS THE PROBLEM?
Its the provider, the NS dev team, contrary to what you might believe, isn't trying to mess with your head or trying to screw you over, the webspace provider is just screwy and sometime goes down. They can't help it really, the only thing the devs could do would be to move, and that would involve the forums AND the webpage to be down for a long time until all the files are transfered to the other webserver.
SQL goes down a lot. What they need to do is write a script that will take it down gracefully and bring it back up once every 24 hours or something. That would prevent it being down for days on end every other week.
A site, even with busy forums, can be moved with only an hour of downtime. I really hope the forums get fixed, especially because I'm getting into mapping, but I know what it's like to run a busy gaming site that generates zero income ... compromises have to be made.
A new member is now around to help keep these forums online and working. Monse was usually around to handle this, but as you may know, he is working on a 9 month (7-8 months left) contract, and is not around as much as he used to be. Any further downages of the forums should be much briefer.
Annoying? Thats the wrong word. Annoying is when your power fails, or your water stosp running, or the phone line breaks. That's annoying. But this, this is like when the bar stops serving free beer. That's not annoying, that's depressing <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
