Yet an OK comp?
In other mods/games my fps has always been good, 60 during firefights on max settings and stuff like that, but on NS somthing seems to drop it to 30 - 40 or even 15-20 sometimes... If i run a LAN game, the fps are fine UNTIL I add bots... FPS is 72.0 (It sets the max to this most games...) then I add one bot and it drops to like 50 when the game starts then I add some more and with 7 bots it's at 35 fps mostly when standing in a normal part of the level (no action on screen yet not facing a wall). Same with internet games so that rules out my modem being the problem if it happens offline.
My comp is:-
AMD Athlon XP 2200+
512 MB of RAM
GeForce4 ti4600
Windows XP
86.9 GB free on hd out of 111 GB
56k modem
I'm running in direct3d mode as opengl errors (a problem this comp has had since i got it, if I do escape to get to menu or alt+tab out in hl based games, when I go back to the game i can hear everything but I cant control the game or see anything and opengl produces the same error before I get into the game )
Changing the resolution between 1280X1024 and lower resolutions hardly affects it... it's somthing to do with the models or somthing...
software mode with bots i get 5-8 fps on higher resolutions and the bullet hit effects look like quake1
I dont know what makes it go between 40 fps and the low 20 fps as that's the range I get with other players but it's pretty bad trying to shoot/bite people at 20 fps when, as skulk you cant see anything half the time when biting anyway. I think the range is just the normal fps drop you get in different situations.
I've tried deleting the ambient sounds, no effect, and it happens on LAN with just my computer involved so rate etc cant be the problem.
I dont mind if it's at 40 fps all the time just 20 is a tad too low for

Comments
2. Get opengl to work Choose the default OpenGL DLL in the video settings and make the resolution 1024x768, and tell me any problems with getting opengl to work.
3. You don't want to give the CPU more work by running in even more intensive video resolutions / software settings. Make use of yer hardware
