dozens of babble kills, outstanding :)
I'm gonna look for webspace to host the demo (I got some, just need to clear out some space)... Anyways, in the end I think there was like 30-40 babble kills... but I might be mistaken... I was all hyped on on adrenaline
But man that was fun... We had one guy go onos halfway through, and he kept paralysing the marines running out, and we'd babble them. hehehe, the marines were good sports though, and turned out to be mean welder wielders! Scores of gorges and babblers got welded to oblivion. It got nasty when they saved up enough cash for grenade launchers too...
Hehehehe, it was SO fun though.

The "top clans" have it all wrong, and they aren't having any fun with their HMG rushes after 3 minutes to win the game. NS is about the midgame and the epic battles and the sheer thrill of having your butt chomped off by a skulk that you didn't see coming. It's not whether you win or lose, it's that you actually played the game.
NS should scare the hell out of you and leave you breathless at its best. No other game out there offers this level of intensity and makes you forget about the gameplay mechanics and focus on playing the game for fun. There will come a day when everyone can play like this and when every last game is a pitched battle to the death for that one double node or that one crucial hive. Till then, seek these kinds of games out when you can, because they are what this game was designed for and they are what kept the playtesters involved through innumerable changes and additions and subtractions (who remembers the Mini-Nuke?). They stayed because it was always immersive and intense (even when the skulk was 4 feet tall and couldn't move, and glided along above the ground).
Anyone got linkage to demo editing stuff? Maybe I can recam this and make my own little gorge video...

I seriously fear the gorge rush, web and babbler is a deadly combination.

Who thinks that should be a seperate thread and stickied? i sure do, mabye it will explain to alot of the CS'ers that winnng/score ARE NOT everything. hell i get a kick out of getting my **obscenity** bitten off just cuz its so funny when you think about it, some guy sittin halfway across the continent just chomped the back of my head off... i mean, how cool is that!

I think some people just didn't leap from 'gadget gorge' to 'Inspector Gadget' to 'this is a theme song'. If I.G. is like Peter Sellers (Inspector Cluseau) in the Pink Panther movies, where would Penny or Brain go in that comparison? Kato and someone else?
I think it's kind of presumptious of you to assume that you know how much fun someone else is having. That is like saying a baseball team's pitcher is ruining the game for his teammates by pitching a perfect game, I mean come on, they never get to field the ball much. There is a place for the 3 min rush in this game. That said, I agree that the most fun to be had in this game is the mid game, and rushing can be boring if over done.
Go Gorgey Go!
Giev good demo plz !!~!
If you don't care about winning then what's the point of doing anything in the game? Who cares if you get more resource points or that 2nd hive up. Who cares if you have 15 gorges none of whom seem to be willing to spend their res on upgrade chambers. As long as they're having a good time, that's what it's all about, right? WRONG. This game is about doing what you're supposed to do and working together to achieve a goal. And that goal is to kill the the other team. To Win. If you are not trying to win then you are playing the game incorrectly, and most people will tell you so (HEY we only need two gorges! Get that phase gate up now! WE'RE GONNA LOSE THE HIVE IF YOU DON'T DO X!!!). If you're not trying to win, then you're goofing off and wasting everyone else's time.
Now, I'll conceed that winning shouldn't be everything. You should be able to have fun even when you're losing and there is probably too much stress put on winning. But that's a feature of this game. If you are losing then you get to do less in the game. Your guns have less dakka (thumbs up anyone who gets that one) or you don't get to evolve into the upright sludge thrower. You are stuck playing the same guy, using the same strategy over and over again and that's tedious--that's not fun. So you have to win. You want to.

And I'd say that you're missing something here... it's not about winning... it's about HOW you win. Sure, I can win 90% of the games I play as a comm with an HMG rush. But are those the games I enjoy or recall to my friends later? No. The game where we lost our first hive, but proceeded to come back and win... now THAT'S a game I remember and enjoyed. But that's just my opinion.
