My Best Game Ever

<div class="IPBDescription">Thought i'd share</div> It was tonight actually. Game started off even enough (7 to 7 i believe), and I was one happy alien...then two of our guys left. So i thought "That's allright, I'm sure if my team cooperates we'll do fine.". I made the unfortunate mistake of letting someone who constantly bugged me to be gorg evolve into one and be our builder (for some odd reason, the entire alien team basically did what I asked them to all night). To my surprise, it was 14 mins of fast paced action for me and the other skulks, but when i checked, our gorg hadn't put up even 1 hive! It turns out for every damn resource tower he put up, he built a mini-base around it. This allowed the marines to capture both port engine room and the mother hive without us knowing it. I could have sworn we were doomed. All attempts at taking either hive back failed miserably. Soon enough the marines had nade launchers, hmgs, jetpacks, and ha. Not to mention seige turrets. So i decided it was time for some quick thinking. One alien lerk flew into the marine base, somehow slipping under the radar, and started attacking spawns. This drove the marines absolutely insane. While he was doing his lerk thang', I was directing the entire teams attack towards port engine room and mother hive in a crazy attempt at overwhelming the bases, but there were just too many turrets. But luckily enough, the comm left a blind spot for me to munch on Port's turret factory, and i took it down. I was sure we would have it, but marines suddenly ignored mother hive and their main base, and poured through the phasegate, killing me and all other aliens who tried to enter port engine room (they even had one marine with a jetpack shooting fom the vent"). Crazily enough, the comm was absent minded enough to constantly leave a blind spot near his tf. I personally took down port's turret system's 6 times, but each time the marines would bust into port, spraying everywhere. You have to remember, through this ENTIRE match the aliens only had one hive, and the marines had the best of everything. Working as a team, we managed to pick off lone hmg-toting ha-wearing marines who strayed from their base. But the marines got cocky, and slipped up. They were so busy phasegate rushing, they left their main base relatively undefended (and damned if that comm didnt leave a blind spot open for me to take down that turret factory in their main base!). After making short work of the turret factory, the aliens poured in. Our first move was to crush the phasegate, leaving the marines stranded at the other 2 hives. We then proceeded to annihilate the marine spawn, and eventually destroyed the few remaining marines. The funny thing about the match was the marines were so SURE they would win no matter what, and the lowest form of aliens crushed their high technology. it was a 2- 2 1/2 hour match, and the win was the most satisfying I've ever experienced on NS, and i've been playing since roughly November 3rd. Just shows you what great team work can do, no matter what situaton your in. And trust me, we had some freaky seige turret experiences that match (ty god for that commander leaving blind spots, or the gorgs wouldnt have been able to build anywhere on the map.)
Comments
If the commander had a grain of sense, he would have dropped another command console in one of the other captured hives once he realized what was going on in the main. That's assuming, of course, that he had the funds for it, or even realized the main was being devoured.
Here's a quote that this reminded me of:
<ul>"He did not nearly kill you. But I wanted him to believe it. It's more of a shock, more of a horror, if you let them think they've won. It crushes a man's spirit to take him then, when you've caught him dead to rights."

One of my fave books of all time there <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> (it was a true epic with a great ending, its as good as the Raymond E.Fiest 'krondor' series!)
But I love it when that happened, your lucky the marines comm was a bit thick tho, otherwise he would have got 3 HA HMGs and a HA GL together and marched into your last hive and walk right through it.
