    First, you might want to poke around the Frontiersmen Strategy forum on this site...

    I suggest that you first play a few rounds as a standard marine, probably more than a few rounds, play many. Get a feel for how the marine team is supposed to work in a real game. You can always get some bots and play around like that, maybe to figure out everything you can do as commander, but until you have a firm grasp of the marine side of the game, you are not going to be able to command a team to victory.

    Just remember that those marines are people, and they will get upset if they detect that their commander doesn't know what they are doing, and they will either not listen to your orders, or will eject you from the chair. This is no fun for anyone, so make sure you have some idea about how the game is played before you jump in the chair in a real game.
