The Ghost Of Christmas Gaming Past

Or Venmochs nostalgia trip
I can now say I have had true gaming nostalgia. I recently went back and played the first ever console game I owned. What was it? The classic
Super Mario Land on the gameboy (I got Super Mario and a Gameboy "Classic" for christmas one year)
I found the cart and thought "I know I'll play this on my GBA" and the memories came flooding back. However I think I have been spoiled by morden games. I kept wanting to autosave. But for a game in 1989 I think it did quite well.
And no I haven't completed it yet. I keep dying just before the last level
