Lasting With No Hives

I was playing in a LAN party and it was me with a newb on aleins, against 3 marines. My guy had no idea what he was doing even after I explained the game to him. He was suprisingly good at biting rampages with a skulk but we still lost. I tried desperately to get another hive on ns_eclipse(we started with comp core) but they got HMG REALLY soon and we were scewed. I decided to use our remaining res to make a regeneration place were i could live after the hives were down. I found that the vent right in the comp core hive location had places were I could build def towers and even some OC. I skulked, went in there, gorged and built about 6-7 def chambers and put about 3 OC at each entrance. I told my buddy to come in but he died and they kiled the last hive. After a bit they started yelihng at me about y i havnt died and they figure out I had def chambers. Now it was the marines turn to "hunt" down an alein. THey had motion tracking so i couldnt move and i even put a coat over my head so they couldnt look on my screen. They had soo many res they randomly started building turr all over the map. eventually they found me and started nading the vent, I lasted a while until the OC went and they came in. It was sooo funny to cheat the freezing death from having no hives, it would hurt, then go up, and so on.

The countdown was implemented to help prevent the Kharaa from dragging a lost game out. If there's no hope of winning, do both teams a favor and die or F4. Nobody enjoys watching you camp a vent for five minutes.

nah, it's still fun even watching the last person "struggle to survive"
i hate the beeping death though.. that's lame
so a game i just got done playing, our gorge had sections up with OC's and DC's.. the marines had HA and welders so they were having fun welding everything.. the comments the guy made as gorge were hilarious. something like how the 'red room' has DChambers there..
of course he was the only one who went and he said "well i guess i get to survive"
they attacked those towers, and he made it to another DC area.. some more comments were made there and a marine was attacking.. he took him down, but right when he did, the beeping killed him
it was awesome, i must say

The aliens are all part of a hivemind. If the hives are all dead, there's no more mind. No mind, no survival. It makes sense.
What I still cannot understand is why the aliens get poked to death when the hives die but when a llama marine decides to inspect the plumbing in some remote access hatch after all IP's and the CC are gone, he gets to stick around as long as he likes.

The countdown is used to prevent llamas, and anyone trying to find a way around it is officially a llama.
A marine countdown may yet be implemented; time will tell. The reason the Kharaa got one first is that a skulk can hide in many places that only a marine with a jetpack can get to, and this was being abused frequently on pubs. The protruding nail gets hammered first.
