Patch 1.04 Could Use Some Weapon Fixing.

<div class="IPBDescription">LMG and pistol are both bugged.</div> Level 3 weapon upgrades are not properly registering on those weapons, resulting in 12 and 25 damage for LMG and pistol shots rather than the 13 and 26 that they should be. Turrets are also doing 30, rather than the 35 they ought to be doing. Probably just typos, so it should be a small matter to set those numbers straight, and poor folks like me who're trying to get an accurate fix on weapon damage for statistic stuff would very much appreciate it. Our sanity's hurting a bit at the moment.

    Yes it should be looked at, if its true than it must suck when fades are qwning j00 face.

    I'm 100% positive about pistol damage, just bring a Kharaa down to 0 armor and shoot them once, and you'll see. I haven't personally tested LMG damage, but have heard from other people testing things out in the game that it's doing 12. I have tested turret damage to get that number, but am not positive that it's a bug. Lots of manual information is incorrect, so for all I know it was reduced on purpose.

    My friend and I did some testing as done from above.


    We both found out the the Lvl 3 upgrade is bugged.
    My friend as Marine and me as Fade:

    Lvl 2 weapon upgrade: (I had lvl 3 cara) HP/AP
    50/24

    Lvl 3 weapon upgrade: (Still lvl 3 cara) HP/AP
    50/24

    Unlikely to be root cause however, as most comms do not upgrade to level 3 weapons until VERY late game anyway (too expensive)

    I push for Armour 1, weapons 2 usually. Armour 1 just for that 3rd Acid/Skulk bite

    I'm ignorant on mod-making for HL, but those strike me as some of the easier bugs to fix, which is why I was surprised to not see them on the change list.

    Well the stats given for amount-of-shots-to-kill for 1.03 (I forgot who did these, sorry) showed different values for Lvl 2 and Lvl 3 weapon upgrades...so it must be a recent thing.

    Those numbers are from 1.03, Flayra. Haven't gottan a 1.04 server to myself yet to play around. The shots-to-kill chart was based partially on the assumption that the game's math was uniform. I confirmed the level 1 LMG damage by shooting an Onos a hundred times, doing 500 health and 198 armor damage, precisely as it should. I did not take the time to confirm every weapon upgrade vs. every carapace upgrade, however, and so I missed the problem with level 3 LMG fire. I did find the problem with level 3 pistol and turret fire, however, when I looked over the results and saw that it was doing less damage than I'd anticipated, I thought that my buddies hadn't upgraded all the way to level 3. So we fired up the server again and went through it all again, and instead of 7/5.46 the pistol was doing around 6/5.25. Then I stripped off all the armor and took a hit to find that 25 pistol damage. Oh, and Flayra, grenades and bile bombs are doing half their listed damage to players on a direct hit. 90 and 40, respectively. I posted all of that in the bug report forum, but must've been missed.

    stop being ridiculous skulkswerenerfed. I would suggest you get around your issue about skulks and move on. Theres no need to focus your life around it.

    yeah, I seemed to notice no big difference in damage caused by me against fades in 1.03, but it feels like it used to improve in 1.02 (fades would crumple faster), I believe the numbers way back when someone did the last comprehensive study (this was during the 1.02 phase) the damage did increase. But I am going to check that out now.

    Those numbers are accurate, but only under the assumption that the weapon upgrades are actually adding that 10% to base damage per upgrade. With the bugged level 3 damage, all bets are off. I said as much on my statistic page about the pistols, that was before I knew about the LMGs and turrets.     I'm glad that it's useful for you. I love NS, and hope that my efforts at playtesting with the other player2player crew will help make an easier time of things for Flayra and the other devs. Seeing a great game get even better is my number one goal.
