My Friend's First Time Playing

<div class="IPBDescription">so embarrassing</div> well some of you may have heard me say yesterday that my teenage friend was coming over to try out NS for the first time. well anyway, today he had a few goes playing as marine and alien. he preferred marine. thankfully there were no cheaters to ruin his first impression during the whole time as far as i could tell. He was pretty good from playing other FPS games; good enough that i didn't ask him to change my nickname that he was using for fear he would tarnish my legendary nickname <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'> after a few rounds he wanted to try out commanding desperately so when a new round started i told him where the commander chair was so he could run and get in it first. he failed to get into the command chair a couple of times but one round he did get in first. i kinda felt bad about letting him command since he was such a newbie. i felt he would let down the team. but i thought, hey since i've been seeing the aliens win like 95% of the time, probably nobody will notice how crap he is since this is his first time. anyway, when he got to be commander that one time, the marines won in the first few minutes. then he wanted to command again next round and he did. the marines won that time also but it was a much longer battle. i couldn't believe it. i was patting his back so much i think i injured him. i just thought i had to tell you about it coz i think this is so funny. when it happened i was so surprised i screamed down the microphone "HEY GUYS, THAT WAS MY FRIEND'S FIRST TIME COMMANDING!". he did it by just basically plopping down a phase gate first thing in the hives once one marine got into them. the first time he played, the hive was the one that was occupied so that's why the game ended so quickly. the next game he took the 2 unoccupied hives first so it took a bit longer. ok i did coach him a bit while he was playing, but i can't remember such great victories while i was commander, in fact with these latest patches i can't remember any time i've won as commander. well anyway i just thought this was such a funny story i just had to tell you guys.

btw i think now that the phase gates should probably be nerfed <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'> perhaps more expensive, less durable, take longer to build, need prerequisite building nearby.

newbs NEVER get JP's in my games. They get, a welder. And an instruction that if they STILL have that welder, in 5 minutes, they might get some HA and a HMG (cos they'll just die outside of HA, and lose the gun)

In fact, it seems to work for pretty much everyone. Blatant veterans get a HA/HMG earliest, then the newbs get welders to keep the HA/HMG's going, then they get HA/HMG's, and the vet's get fun stuff.

then we take an empty hive ... then find their first hive and ... GG ... BTW that guy hid in a damn vent ... tx to motion we found him and my best marine KNIFED HIM aahhaahahah <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wow.gif'>

The 3rd time I commanded we won again ... we were on Tanith took the sat comm hive ... then killed waste hive and they only had fus but a few fades took sat comm back ... then I gave my marines a welder and told them to weld that antena thing that uses the satelites to open that wall ... we didnt even shoot @ the wall to get inside we just sieged <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'>
then we naded fus and GG <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'>

we won these cause I saved up res for HA + hmg/nades asap, BTW we only had 2 <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/turret.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='turret.gif'> in main, my CC got attacked and I logedout and killed him <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'> then I made a <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/turret.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='turret.gif'> behind CC and exited again to build it <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'> Its funny when you logout you're 3 meters away from the chair and the skulk dosent totice until its too late <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'>
