Winhlbooster

I'm just wondering if there is something like WinHLBooster 1.36 built in to Natural Selection? The reason why I am asking this is because I installed WinHLBooster and put the "booster_targetfps" cvar in my server config. I was having problems getting NS working with AdminMod so I went through a process of commenting out various AdminMod and MetaMod plugins. I have the "booster_targetfps" cvar set to 100. When I have WinHLBooster activated a counter shows the fps at the top of the HLDS window. I was very surprised to note that, after I had commented out WinHLBooster, that the fps was still showing at the top of the HLDS window, and that it was still almost bang on 100.

The Linux HLDS server has a built in pingbooster, I'm not sure this is supported in Win32 environments. Guess you could try it, the worst that could happen is it doesn't work and you need to remove the line. To try it just put "-pingbooster #" in your command line when starting the server. You can use pingbooster method 1, 2 or 3. Each level is progressively more aggressive in lowering pings I believe.

I am running Windows XP. When I use WinHLBooster I don't like setting the fps too high because I play my server from the same machine and I need to keep the processor load as low as possible. That is why I only set the target fps at 100. However, I have completely removed WinHLBooster and the fps at the top of the hlds window is still showing 100. I didn't think that hlds normally ran at 100 fps. In fact, I didn't even know that the fps showed at the top of the hlds window if you weren't running WinHLBooster. Which is why I asked whether or not NS has some sort of built in fps booster.
