Weird Alien Biting/attacking

<div class="IPBDescription">i think has to do with the server?</div> On my clans server the aliens attack is messed up, it can be best seen with the skulk's bite

When you have full energy, and moving forward, the skulk bites as if an onos did a primal scream for the first 1/2 of your energy, then it starts biting as if you had no energy(very slowly)

It only happens on our clans server from what ive seen.

the ip is 139.81.133.175:27050

and it affects all alien weapons from what ive seen.

I saw this happening on a lot of servers as soon as 1.03 came out. I never had this problem before then. It occurs on my server as well.

hmm maybe it should go in the bug report forum if flayra doesnt know about it yet.

Yes. I noticed this last night on a server. As a Skulk with full energy holding down the attack button, I would bite, pause as if you had no energy left, continue biting twice as fast. I thought at first that it was lag, however, the server pings were 150-200. Quite good for a 20+ player server.

I had this problem on my server with HLGuard. Once I disabled everything except for the cvar/file checking, the problem went away.

Most likely you guys are playing on a HLGuard server where the admin hasn't noticed the problem and thus hasn't fixed it. That would be my guess, anyway.

I have found that what tlarmon has said is true. I disabled hlguard , and the problem was fixed . You can run hlguard , but if you use aimbot detection , that seems to cause the problem. So its a choice you have to make.

Always deactivate aimbot detection after first HLguard installation.
Aimbot detection causes lag and other problems.

It's definalty hlguard. I tested it on my server.. on = funky skulk biting + lag spikes| off = normal biting + no lag spikes /me thinks that the NSteam should look at Project Phoneix from United Admins as a possible replacement for VAC. When was the last update VAC was updated anyway? 6 months ago? Project Phoniex is like Cheating - Death but Built into the client and server .. and can be automatically updated.

sorry if it sounded rude, i didn't mean too.
now.. it looks like you did not read what is VAC and how it works, VAC ONLY works in CS and in DoD.
TFC 1.6 will support VAC, and also NS 1.1..
you as a client do not feel that VAC is updated, rarely servers have problems when they update the VAC modules(just reboot server and it works)

i have those funky biting problems too... but they are sparatic and i DO NOT run hlg. I do run CD, but it happened before CD so i dunno what the deal is.

You can enable everything in HLG but leave the wallhack block off. Its the wallhack block that couses the uneven skulk biting.

Im happy to see that we aint the only ones having the prob....

We did the same on our clan server, I mean we removed HL and the prob went away.

But if some has the best solutions plz post it!
  • GelantiousGelantious Join Date: 2002-11-01 Member: 2576Members, Constellation
Well I posted right before saying that you only need to disable the wallhack block to remove the uneven biting.
And if you have C-D on the server, remove Cheat block aswell.

    Then it works perfectly.

Not in my case it doesn't

I am not running any CD/HLG, have not had the problem before 1.04 but it has happened recently...

Mind you my server often hangs, churning the hard disk saying "hlds.exe has generated errors and now will continute to p*55 you off for the next few minutes until you can VNC to this machine and press the "OK thanks for telling me you useless piece of sh*7" button"

So maybe it's the least of my worries...

    oookay.

    OS???

If, WinNT/2K/XP Install Firedaemon and run HLDS as a service, then it will restart the server automatic if it crashes.
If 9x, cant help you there.

Try lowering you max players by 2, usually helps against if the server goes down alot.
Had to reduce mine from 18 to 16 or it would crash two times a day.
