Lets Comm fight in emergency
This absurd thing im proposing is an idea and in no way my idea on how the game should be fixed, ok. Its a great Mod and my ideas mean squat, so now that I can avoid those flames lets move on. I have read the miles of threads of balance, fades, models ect... Many well thought out posts and many just there to trash them.
COMM, whenever there is no COMM for more than 5 seconds the armory will allow access to a buy menu of some sort. With the ability to buy your basic weapons, health and HA, and JP if its all been researched.
An OPTION for the COMM to turn on weapon and health buying at armorys. He can select an armory and switch buying on or off. This will of course use up resources as normal , or maybee even tag on an additional 1 or 2 rps to original cost.
Possibly the ability to allocate a set number of availible resources to said Armorys.
What will this do? I do not believe this would affect balance in any way. The COMM can allocate buy resources and focus on building and healing, it is his perogative to use it or not. Marines can get weapons at the critical moment when COMM almost always drops during fade attacks that are wiping out Main Base.
Marines are only using the resources availible to them, they still cant build without a COMM
The COMM can fight as a Marine when the fade attack happens and Marines can get ammo. A good COMM is still way more effective at dispersing weapons and health, but at least a bad comm can click a button and we can get what we need. Or when there is no comm, the Marines have a little better chance.
This will also help if its on for buying a shotty or mines or at critical moment of fade attack, many dropped weapons end up in wrong hands, I for one never ask for a gun, hehe ussually end up playing every game with la, hmg and pistol.
I also think this will offset the people that justify the 1 more Marine against Aliens thing, this levels it without any balance issues.
OK, this is my silly idea. Firstly I am not saying anything about balance, Marines need to learn that when Fades attack, whats the support and to target that first, like gorge healing or webbing and lerks umbra, you have to kill those first before you can even touch the fades, which will go down from 1 clip of un-upgraded lmg and 10 well placed pistol shots.

Imagine the fight, where all kinds of "HMG HA BASE PLS COM!" players are draining the resources to 0, when they just buy everytime HMG and HA and suicide themselfs to fade / onos / (skulk?).
That leaves no resource to commander to build. It would protect somehow, if it could be turned off / on.
If marines CC is crushed, they can still buy cant they? a comm has to drop weapons and armor usually, so if this would happen, and a team looses CC, they could still win if they got the resources.. However if you remove the option to buy without an CC it could be a good idea in this case the weps and armor should cost some more..
I did state that this was a COMM option that could be switched on and off, and he could feed an armory with however many resources he chose out of his pool if it is on.
Also its great for when there is no comm which I see way to often.
I seek a compromise, I know its no big deal to lose a player if they are not happy. But I am seeing way to many games with no comm for much of the time, also this could ease the stress on the comm for dispersing weapons, its just an alternative.
If a game starts and a good comm wants to comm the game then NOTHING changes. If comm drops , marines dont have to jump in chair and drop a gun and leave chair. I have no interest in COMM anymore as the whining gives me a migraine.
You, or whoever suggested it was having trouble keeping up with all of the requests from the marines. I understand how you feel but i am not looking for an easy way out. Here are some tips for you or whoever suggested that:
~As comm, i use a few shortcut keys. Health, ammo, ha, and hmg. This makes things a little less stressful...seeing as how you dont have to do as much clicking to give a marine hp and ammo. And you cant spam about 15 things on the ground in a second.
~Know what your marines want before they ask. I can even tell you how many times i hear "Dragon i need a..........wow thanks"
~Use voice comm as often as possible to communicate to your marines. If you dont wanna give them something, tell them that you're not going to, so they dont constantly bug you.
~Be on top of your game...keep your marines selected so you know who needs health.
~Constantly be watching those green dots on the map. Click on them every now and then so you can see if a marine needs health or something.
~If you see a green dot staying by a white dot, you can assume a marine is either waiting for A) Phase gate at a hive B) Resource tower
I hope that makes your commandering a lil easier.
I've already had too many problems related to soldiers buying their own weapons without somthing like this being implimented. Sometimes I jump out of the chair when I am commanding to help my team out. Many times, a soldier will jump in the chair and try and take over, or will drop the weapon and items they want and jump out. These are the worst kind of players, in my opinion. When our team is trying to win, and I try and help the team by getting into the action, and one selfish player spends our valuble resources on himself, I can't even explain how angry this has made me.
Maybe somthing like this would be useful for an inexperianced commander who cannot deal with managing the strategy of the team and outfitting them at the same time, as for myself, I always have a plan for every resource point our team has, and when someone else spends them in a way that I did not intend for, bad things usually happen (for instance, we lose...)
Then again , I am seeing the other side of the coin.
Try 5 minutes. 5 seconds isn't enough to hop out and kill a skulk.
someone jumping in and building that stuff and then swithcing on the buy menu and as soon as another comm turns it off
a vote has been cast to eject the commander
so the new commander cant build anything since all the marines wants their ha hmg
dont see the benefits of a new suggestion look at the worst possible scenario instead
this option is in no way a good oe for ns its supposed to be a team game for marines hence no toys for you on your own. thats counter strike youre thinking of
