Hm. Is it possible to add steam come out below the flooring?
I think that'd really help the mood. :]

Now this looks really great! Very nice detail and style..

The one thing that stuck out at me the most is the lighting... perhaps you could get it a little more moody or dramatic on the floor there...

Just enough so that it isn't a constant pool of light.

Great job!

er, how big is this?

might just be my headache now, but it looks like someone would have to crawl under those lights ....

=X

Although, it does look pretty good

Yeah, now that you mention it, it does look like that.

I think it's the floor. The texture looks a bit too big.

its mainly the perspective. The room looks too wide for a corridor and too thin for a room. but it looks allright execpt for the lighting.

/me likes!

but you should really break just one of the ground lights. it looks to repetetive right now.

I think the wide corridor makes it look pretty orignal. I like the texturing, but as someone pointed out maybe the floor texture is to big.

About the lighting, I think they were thinking something like this.

This is an example from the excellent Half-Life Editing Tips by Dave Johnson. You can see by having variation in the light makes it look much more intresting than the constant light.

looks nice. i suggest some change with the lighting. it is too boring. perhaps some other colors?

Nice, very nice.I thought the first was fine, but the second is even better. Keep this mood throughout the whole map. It almost feels balmy, like on a jungle world, without actually giving way to outside zones, not even windows. Very effective atmosphere. And no, it doesnt seem to short (height wise), by lining up the tops of the supports with the top edge of the door, one can see that a marine is just short enough to get under. And for the person who is planning on posting saying "what about the level 5", he can crouch to the height of a marine.

ah ha!

Now I dont feel like I need to crawl under the lights. Looks much better. But uh ... whats that brown goo in the middle there?

*shrugs* just watery stuff. Is it easy for people to get past the broken floor bit?
• Shuvit_ViperShuvit_Viper Join Date: 2002-01-25 Member: 62Members
that is slime isnt it? its not a hole in the ground or something... anyways, this looks awesome... very need.. .i agree to humbaba... this feels very abandoned and taken over by aliens...
• Black_WolfBlack_Wolf Join Date: 2002-03-13 Member: 310Members
erm, i think its a hole, isnt there that exact texture in the ns wad file? with the hole in that shape? i may be wrong . . .
• pielemuispielemuis Join Date: 2002-01-25 Member: 72Members, NS1 Playtester
it appears to be a hole, it would be cooler if it was just a puddle but anyway, it looks good but there's still room for improvement, I for one think it's all a bit bright to be alien territory, maybe put more contrast in the lighting and kill some lights?

Hey Remy from svencoop! Hiya... nice map! O_o
• RemyRemy Join Date: 2002-04-10 Member: 409Members
lol, someone knows me (007). Thats a first.

This is just another shot, because I seem to have fun messing with this particular hall, not sure if having a drop makes it more interesting, or maybe I should have left the high water. But anyhow, it takes only seconds to fix, and I even put a marine in there to compare size ratio to the lights... showing there is enough room for a standing level 5. I also was trying out fog...green moist feeling. More suggestions about what i should change, or what not.
Marine base atmosphere shots to come.

PS. R_speeds are below 300 0_o (loving the null texture)
