MARINES:

Command Console: 30 RP
Resource Tower: 22 RP
Infantry Portal: 15 RP
Armory: 25 RP

    Yea but...what is the point of this thread? Are you trying to compare costs or try to find a cheaper way to fight. You have to remember you can built up a lot of RP's very quickly under the right circumstances. It also depends on the map. The cost of a battle is insignificant to me as long as victory is acheived...I can lose over a hundred marines...in technical terms and if I win...I never lost anything because it's a game.

    Anyways your average 45 minutes game..providing people actually stay in it to play...would be an ungodly cost in upgrades...respawns...and equipment.

    does anyone else think that alien upgrades be a bit more then 2 rp?

    i mean come on, carpace on fades, 2 rp?

    why cant it be like 15 for carpace, 10 for regen, and 5 for redemption (or whatever is deemed balanced)

    I dont see anything wrong with it, Alien resources are spread out among the team, and Marines resources works as a single pool.

    And maybe Marines just need a *bit* more time once that 2nd Hive, which they could not secure, gets up. 33 to 44 is all the time is needed to give a Gameover for Marines.

    He may actually be on to something.
    Not the 15/10/5 thing; that's insane.
    But having different costs for the upgrades.
    Currently, anything other than carapace/adren/cloaking as a fade (which most people are in the mid-end game) is very rare.
    If these three where increased to 3 resources each, it would encourage the use of other upgrades.
    Seriously, the only time I don't take these three (or at least the ones of these that are available) is when I'm a skulk. In that case I take celerity or silence instead of adren. (I've recently decided to always go with silence when I know I'll be skulking for a little while. Gotta love the silent-stalker-skulk.)

    I always use regen cloak and adren as a fade... you can cloak and regen your health, just bomb there base and hide behind a box cloaked or something and wait for health to return.

    the alien has to pay that price every single time (s)he wants to upgrade

    Consider a skulk - it has to pay 2 rps for carapace each and every time they upgrade whether it be at the start of the game or the end. So if they pay that 2rp for 20 deaths thats 40rps, multiply that by 8 team members and thats 320rps. Now consider the <b>one-off</b> costs for the marines for armour upgrades, something like 50rps for each one ( I can't remember exactly ) - so that'd be ~150 rps for each marine to have lvl3 armour upgrade all game. Bit of an advantage there isn't it? So reasonably bad case scenario for aliens sees them paying twice the resources over the game. Imagine if they had to pay 15rps for that - all game they'd have to pay 2400 rps over the game. Now you can see how ridiculous a figure 15rps is, any rise in costs would be extremely harsh for the aliens.

    I haven't even taken into consideration the effects that this would have for higher alien evolutions, esp. as for aliens their main hope of winning is to get fades attacking as soon as possible, i.e. before the marines get hmg's/ha/gl's.

    Having the carapace/cloak/adrenaline at 3 rps instead of 2 would mean a cost increase resource wise, usaing the 20deaths for each 8 team members case scenario, 480 extra rps cost.

    If you reduced the costs elsewhere for aliens then you could increase the cost of certain upgrades but otherwise you're just making the game far harder for the aliens. their lives are harsh enough at times when the marines can spam siege turrets & phase gates all over the place on the cheap.

    2nd, the aliens are a bit strong right with 2 hives and fades are easy to get (i have played a lot of driffrent games with a lot of driffrent people, this is my opinion, and i am sticking to it no matter how many whinners come to flame me)

    maybe they whould have to wait for resources, giving marines a bit of time, go without the powerful upgrades, or choose lesser upgrades
