<div class="IPBDescription">Dosent teh title explain that sheesh</div>ok, i was curious as to how you came up with the idea for teh different levels?  and the commander idea and all that spiffyness.

Also, try to keep the title to something that explains it. I almost moved this to Off-topic because of your previous topic "something about rabbits"... or whatever it was. Thanks.  Management.

    Well, not that i would know, but there are a few tipes of ideas.

    1. Sudden Inspiration: Duh.
    2. Solving a Problem: Flayra might see half life's weak alien situation as a problem. Enter NS.
    3. Inspiration: From AvP or something while watching the movie or thinking about it.
    4. A cool picture or something: yah, these can inspire kooks to make whole mods.
    5. Copy: Hey, thats cool, lets put it in half life! hey, thats cool, lets add that also! hey, lets make this into a mod, and add alot of our own stuff also! and so on...

    That's a really cool question actually. Since Flay did most of the brain sweat on how the aliens worked, and Cory did most of the conceptualization, maybe they can write a tag-team answer at some point.

    Sort of an 'Origin of Species'. Eh heh.

    I dunno, really.  It just seemed obvoius to me.  It's a game I want to play, and it seems like a game a lot of people want to play.  I never understood while people didn't add more RTS to their FPS.  The games that have gone in this direction haven't taken off for various reasons (Tribes, Battlezone, Allegiance), so I thought that the time has come for something big, mainstream and popular to move in this direction.  Enter, Half-life.

    There is also so much competition in FPS right now, but generally coordination isn't built into the game.  Players communicate and coordinate in SPITE of the game, the game doesn't help them do this.  Commander mode actively facilitates this (while also attracting the type of player that might be best suited for this role).

    As for the marines vs. aliens theme, it seems to fit the best.  A fantasy, feudal or contemporary version of this game just doesn't sound as dramatic or interesting to me.  We could've made up our own wacky genre, but again, this game was designed to appeal to many people, so I felt a familiar genre was necessary.

    I think the reason no one made a game like this before is because they don't know coding at all compared the the people in the Ns team <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->,

    I couldn't imagine anyone else pulling off something like this  <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    To me, this idea really only makes sense in Human vs. Alien setting.  If it were a modern day Human vs. Human setup it would get lost in the many other excellent mods that are already doing that.  The commander mode would be reduced to little more than a gimmick.  Medieval times would be cool but mods like Destiny and Wizard Wars are covering that ground pretty well.  The futuristic space angle makes it unique in the mod community.
