Has this happened to you.
I was just in a game where thinngs were going along perfectly we had two hive and full defense and Movement chambers. half the team were already fades and whatnot. I had made maybe 8 resource chambers and resources were just flowing in. Then a marine slips past the defenses and builds a phasegate near the viaduct. I managed to kill half of them as a gorge and was constantly webbing them. I ask for backup.

nothing.

I try and build some offense chambers and that kills a few.

nothing.

I start swearing at my team telling them to get their **obscenity** to viaduct.

One skulk show up and dies. Then the marines finally kill me.

I start screaming into team chat that we need people at viadcut and they should drop whatever they are doing and get their **obscenity** down here. While me and the one skulkl bumrush the marines constantly. At this point they have a working turret factory and some unbuilt sieges.

Keep in mind I believe there were 4 fades on the team.

Then after the hive is actually under attack does a fade shows up. The marine team now has 4 or so turrets.

I try and assist the fade by healing him and I heal em until I die. Keep in mind they still had full upgrades. While I wait to respawn I check to see how close the other fades are. 1 is standing still apparently AFK while the other two attack do the duck out and shoot against against and fortified resources node. THEY NEVER **obscenity** CAME AT ALL. After the hive goes down the guy who was away from his keyboard comes back and attempt to take back the hive but he and the other one both die.

The other two never come. Eventually, like maybe 2 minutes AFTER the hive has died I get them to move out and they promptly die. The game is a wash and with only one hive we lose quickly.

So remember DROP WHATEVER YOU ARE DOING AND DEFEND THE **obscenity** HIVES! No one gives a **obscenity** if you take out ONE **obscenity** RES POINT (which BTW they never even took out) I mean this was something like a 5 minute period after I announced that the hive was under attack before the first fade even showed and like and like another 4 minute until we actually lost the hive.

So remember kids you pissant little conquest of a resources point IS NOT MORE IMPORTANT THAN LOSING THE DECIDING FACTOR OF THE GAME. I mean jesus.

Sorry, I just needed to vent about this.

Don't come on here to moan and whine about specific players on a server.(Mostly) everyone on these forums knows that hives are the most important thing aliens have. The people you are trying to reach and curse at don't come here, and most likely would not care if they did. Keep it to yourself.

Reading again I was something of a jerk when it comes down to it. The only thing I have to say in defense is that my swearing was directed toward the situation (Like "Ohh **obscenity** the hive is under attack get down here real **obscenity** fast") and not towards abusing the players. I did curse at one of the players but that was after I found out he had been sitting around doing jack while the hive died.

Anyway for some reason losing when we had half a team of Fades, full upgrades with redundant chambers, controlled 70% of the resources points and were generally in win-mode, well I just kinda snapped and came here and vented. I don't beleive in editing or deleteing my posts where I make an **obscenity** of myself but just keep in mind 99% of the time I'm civil and fairly consiecious team player. Sorry bout all the crap.

Yes, this happens a lot. It's so fun. This is how it always goes:

Me: **obscenity**, we got a few marines coming to *insert hive name here*
    Me: need some backup here!!

at this point i rush out and try to take them out myself, usually get 1 or 2 then die.

    Me: THEYRE TAKING THE HIVE!!
Me: Fine, let them take it then..

    *10 minutes later*

Random n00b: Guys, we need to get *insert hive name here*
    Me: ...

I love it, nobody gives a **obscenity** what you say until they need to build there and its taken. Then i get blamed for not being uber skulk and taking down all 5 marines on my own.

I do this all the time, in varying degrees of language.

The usual response is, after the hive dies, someone says:
"OMG! Why didn't anyone say something?"

Using voice comms I can sometime persuade one or two additional team mates to show up which can sometimes help, the key when doing this is be increidbly verbose. Don't just say "get to XXX", massive big long rambling senstances is the order of the day "Get to viaduct now as there are five marines there with a phase gate building turrets", repeat this every 30 second gettting louder and louder and blatantly start lying "THEY'VE JUST TAKEN OUT THE MOVE CHAMBER, SO NO MORE ADRENALINE" is a good one, some players may not care about working as a team but you bet they all want to protect their precious right to go on a murdering spree (with acid rockets obviously, these sort of people don't know fades have claws).

Fairly often the reason no one will show is because they are newbies who don't understand the game mechanics, explaining it to them forcefully sometimes get's the point across as does using the players name. If you make it very specific to a group of players what they need to do that helps and in fact you see this on the uhman team quite a lot, without the commander giving out orders to people they tend to get bored, run off and die.

If it comes to viaduct and noone is defending but you, go skulk, get into the vents

You know that one room? start build def turrets like mad (Safehouse) as it normally can distract the sieges for a while and if you have enough they heal up pretty quickly, leaving the siege turrets hopelessly distracted unless the marines go clear it (Skulk time) chew on the marines heads for a while then, after they are all gone, go take back the great (Lerks on the catwalk works ok)

    Other nice things to do:

    1. If you're going to do the wailing-about-attacks thing, at least let people know when the threat is over. The third time people coming running back to a safe hive, they're going to start ignoring you.

    2. If you're coming back to defend, say so, so not everyone has to drop what they're doing.

    3. "2 hmg/jp refinery, help NOW" is far more informative than "OMG THE HIEV IS UNDER ATTACK!"

    4. Related to number 3, if something is important, type it out. Voice comm is way too unreliable to trust anything important to. Hearing "FzzzzzzIVEzzzzzzVEEzzzzzzzz" over and over is going to get me to mute you, not come and help defend.

I definately agree with thesomething is important type it out. I've now taken to playing on the same server as a regular which means I know that at least half my team can follow my voice com with ease. Often when performing some risky maneouver it's not uncommon for a paniced use of a the voice comms ("incoming to generator!", "welding near sewer!") followed shortly by either a "all clear" if I rectify the situaton or if I die I usualy type out a full status report while I wait in death.

I find it also helps to explain yourself whenever possible. for instance many commanders do not properly secure their turre factories so it does help to say "This turret factory can be eaten by a single skulk taking no damage as there are no turrets guarding the rear", this way you are educating people and after a while their style of play will naturaly get better. This is much better than "OMG UR A BAD COMMANDER!" type statements.
