Command Consoles In Combat

this is not a suggestion/idea thread
The command console, has 2000hp. (This is from an unreliable source, but we all know it has insane amouts of hp)

The command console cost 30rp.

Important : You can place them anywhere.

So what is a commander to do with a cheap block of metal that is for the most part unbreakable? There is a few things you can do.

Distraction

When assaulting a heavily WoLed alien encampment, place a CC behind the OCs before your marines get in sight. The OCs will all lock on the CC and your marines will be able to take them out without being fired at (can you say WELDER).

NOTES : You want to place them on the opposite side as your attacking force because OC's aim is pretty sad and you don't want stray acid hitting your marines.

Vent Plug

You can deny aliens access through vents by placing a CC. The best part of this tactic is that the marines don't even have to go build it. This will slow vent crawlers significantly and if they're about to break through, build another one.

NOTES : This will also block the marines from accessing the vents Via jet pak, so you usually want to put them by welds to buy enough time to actually weld the vent. Be sure to place it where the aliens can't just crawl over it.

Wall

One of the more costly tactics, similar to the Vent Plug, you can seal off whole Doors by stacking CCs.

NOTES : this is insanely costly so it is only recommended in a situation with plentiful resources, or you're about to lose.

Offensive Commanders

By building a CC in the front lines, you can have an emtpy chair, and an extra guy fighting. Be sure to spam the Health/Ammo before going to fight. Works Wonders for Marine rushes.

NOTES : this will mean all alien attacks are unnoticed because you don't have a alert for each little thing your buildings do.

It must have alot more then 2000HP

A skulk bite does 70 damage, so it would kill a CC in less then 30bites, which isn't true.

Probably have around 8000 HP, like a hive.

Question is does it have that 8000 hp befor its built?

I have used CC's as com quite a bit as a defencive measure. When the aliens drive you back into your base cc's on the doors, a few marines with grenade launchers and some turrents out of LOS of the doors can drive the aliens mad. As long as you keep welding the cc's and picking up dropped weapons you can hold out for ages, havent won a game this way yet though although ive used it to defend the marine start or a hive in a more even game.

Really don't see the point in turtelling up, if all appears lost i'll be controlling a small group of marines near an enemy hive attempting to siege it right up to the last second while hoping that the LA/LMG guys can hold out till its down.

I don't think so, most of the other buildings are a lot weaker when unbuilt, like unbuilt sentries seem to die in 4 or 5 bites, instead of 20, or however many it usually takes.

I have seen this done before as a wall. It works wonders against fades when everybody has welders. I never thought of using it to plug up a vent however. Good idea.

I think unbuilt buildings half or a third of normal health, so building the command centers would be important.

You can use it to plug stuff up, but unless you get someone to build it, a skulk only needs one or two bites on it to take it out. Putting an unbuilt one up behind OCs might divert them from your troops for... maybe 3 seconds, depending on how many OCs there are.

Good in theory, but try to test out ideas before posting them as "tips."
