I'm new to survival genre. Endgame designed into Subnautica? (infinite gameplay?)

I've unlocked everything, hoarded a ton of resources, and even made a second base. What's the point of going out and collecting resources if there's nothing to spend it on?

There's a storyline to follow in the game, with a definite endgame. Be sure to make 1 of each tool, as certain ones trigger radio messages. These messages typically take you to places to get hints on where to explore. The ocean is deep, dive in.
