Has anyone ever seen the animated series "The Deep"?? It is all about a family that has been deep-sea explorers for generations and they explore all the world's seas and oceans. I think that there are tons of potential for the Subnautica series to have inspired ideas for story points and technology from the series.

Technology:
In the show, they have vehicles that are pretty much the same as what Subnautica offers; a seamoth, exo-suit, and large submarine. But they also have gadgets that help them out a lot. One of the devices that would be the most helpful in Subnautica is called pingers. These pingers a little golf ball-sized devices that flow through a cave or along a current to give a scanned map of the layout. Wouldn't it be amazing if before entering the deep darkness of a new area you could scan to give a rough layout of that first.

Story:
The show focuses on the plot of the main characters exploring dangerous and unexplored regions of the deep. During the series, they are learning about ancient civilizations that existed long before and finding their forgotten locations, technology, and facing the obstacles that those people once faced. They take on puzzles, difficult natural elements, like whirlpools and cave systems, and even have to search out fragments of certain items in order to understand more about what they are experiencing as well as understand where they should head next. They even encounter unknown and dangerous creatures.

It is just a good series that furthered my interest and love of Subnautica and it has elements to it that Subnautica does not have, but would be amazing if they made their way into the game in its own Subnauticaly way.
