Why does food go off faster in BZ?

In Below Zero, everything is supposed to be pretty cold - hence the name. So why does food go off so quickly? I was under the impression that food should go off at least twice as longer as in Subnautica.

Thanks!

I noticed this as well. It also seems like the hunger and thirst meters deplete faster as well. Or am I just imagining that?

now that you say it.... jeah but I think it's the same.... and about the freezing..... idk I think the stuff get's bad to fast I normaly use indoor growbeds with plants in my base and Cyclops but it makes sense to go bad so fast and to drain water when salted (but it is bad gameplaywise, this might be the reason there is a gamemode without ;D)

Yes I feel like this is a big issue with both games. Sometimes when I cook something it goes bad moments after cooking it!
