probably a bug. I see a huge difference between the normal swimming speed and sea glider speed.

I also feel like the seaglide is much faster than swimming.

According to the wiki the top swimming speed should be around 7.6 m/s, and that is without tools and oxygen tanks.

The seaglide, again following the wiki, has a top speed of 10 m/s (so about 32% increase).

A seamoth has an in game entry stating a top speed of 13 m/s.

I haven't tested those numbers, but they do feel about right to me.
However, if you feel like testing it (or already did), please do share your findings with us.

P.S: Just realized you're talking about Below Zero, which I played very little. I did use a seaglide most of the time, and it felt much faster to me too. Later when I get back to the game I will pay more attention to it.

Personally I've found the seaglide to have a huge difference. Though sometimes normal swimming without a tool does feel faster sometimes.

In Subnautica, Seaglide seems much faster than swimming. In Below Zero, Seaglide seems roughly the same as swimming.

I find the Seaglide is slower on surface and doesn't seem to use power, so I assume it is normal swim speed. But underwater it always seems a lot faster to me. I think I use it more than anything on average. Especially early game and very deep. Every other mode of transportation is for storage only.

Maybe it's a bug and there is a lot of difference between sea glider speed and normal swimming speed.

I still find it useful to get around when swimming

It's probably a bug, you should report it to the devs.
