How is the NS name handled? will this be a option in the in-game menu to enter your name? otherwise i will use the console, going through all these menus is really a pain in the ***...
I would like to see a menu option to change name, where you click on it and then type your name... And maybe even 3 other 'standard' names which you could just click on, 'fast names'... then i dont have to bind to switch names fast from [MLA]Joren to [Shuvit.Viper]

All you need to do is type:
bind <key> "name Silver.Fox"
er, what ever. if you want spaces you need to type it manualy:
name "omg Spaces Rock"
or create a .cfg file with notepad.
goto your HL mod dir (hl/cs, hl/nstr, hl/tfc .. ect ..)
Right click, new, text document
rename it to name.cfg
then open it using notepad
type:
name "[1337]Spaces Rule"
In game, all you need to type into the console is:
exec name.cfg
you can have as many .cfg files files as you want. So, you can have like, 20 preset names ready to go. Just create .cfg files for each one (ie: name.cfg, name2.cfg, name3.cfg ...)
but to place every single command into a user friendly menu seems a bit ... asinine ...
I think things that pretty much only relate to NS and general gameplay should be in the menus. How convenient is it to have to go through 20 menu choices to to change your name?
Wouldn't it be simpler just to hit ~ and type name "Player"?

Also, having that many commands in one menu would make it decidedly less user-friendly.
anyways, I have a question about changing names in console, my friend told me this one a looong time ago but I forgot, how do you make a name like: Hey you! using the console?
I mean having spaces...
I think it was Hey%You! or something, but I can't remember, does anyone know?

I'm really not sure what you're asking here... if you want to know how to make a name like 'spyder monkey' with a space, you put it in quotes... i.e. name "Spyder Monkey". If you're asking how to put a person's name into a string, in TFC it is '%i', though I'm not sure about other mods. '%h' is health '%a' is armor, and '%i' is last person seen.
Picture this. You're at a LAN playtest. There are twenty people that want to play your game. They've all downloaded it. Only half of them have patched HL. They try to download the patch, only to realize they don't have Fileplanet accounts. They just installed HL and they didn't know they have change their video options, because by default HL uses crappy software rendering. Everything is fast and blocky, at 320x200.
They finally get it installed and running. (picture me, running between different machines, trying to help each person get things right). Now the game starts, they're actually playing. There is now Player, Player(1), Player(2), etc. running around, all with no clue about what to do.
"How to I change my name?"
"It's just like every single other Half-life m--, er, OK, just open the console and type name-whatever"
There's a look of confusion. "Hit the tilde key." "Next to the 1 key". They finally find it, and cautiously press it. Nothing happens. "Oh, you have to quit out of Half-life and launch HL with -console." "Yeah, quit the game." "Find your icon. OK, this is XP? I have no idea where your icon is. Found it? Right click it, properties, ok, find the..blah blah blah"
The list goes on. What about, hit ESC to bring up the in-game player menu, type your name, then continue with your game? Every player will have to do this. The vast majority of people do not even know about the console.
One of the NS design goals:
"Accessible, fast, mouse-driven interface"
Knowing how to change your icon properties and use the console doesn't fit into that goal, so I think it's worth putting in. :)

I hope you get it to work ok, but to put so many commands into the same menu system ...
Good Luck.
