Glowing floater variant, possible uses and lore

I had this idea while attempting to build a base deep underwater with minimal lighting: a floater variant that acts as an emergency light source.
Uses:
- Can stick to objects and walls, like the typical floaters
- Acts similar to a flare, but much dimmer, maybe another color. Just enough to see your immediate surroundings.
- Can stick it to your chest, so you can use tools and see simultaneously.
- Provides a slight buoyancy effect when stuck to self?
- Spawns attached to glowing rock formations or glowing fish. Absorbed the light-emitting properties, mutating and acting more like a parasite.
Balancing possibilities, to not make other lights obsolete:
- Light dies out after a while (starving/running out of stored energy)
- Attracts predators
- Feeds off of YOU. Accelerated metabolism due to mutation, gradually drains your hunger/thirst.
