<div class="IPBDescription">Mk2</div> OK this is me improving on the design for I map I did ages ago, suggestions welcome

Bare in mind it's not really to any kind of scale and that it doesn't show height changes etc, it's just a basic layout to follow.

    Thought I'd mention...
    <ul>
    <li>The vent that goes across the marine spawn, I doubt will allow entry into the base, because aliens can get into it from many places.
    <li>Most vents will be weldable
    <li>The 'circles' that the vents go into will be caves and not man-made
    <li>The broken path from marine start to the right hive is exactly that, blocked off. Marines and aliens cannot travel past the rubble.

    Anyway, I think it's pretty good. The one thing that worries me a bit is that the double node is almost certainly gonna be taken by the marines unless the aliens spawn in the far right hive. I'd like to see the double node be placed in a location that both aliens and marines have equal chance of fortifying, but I don't really know how you'd do that in a layout like this. It'll be nice to see some change from the "diamond" pattern of NS maps, and it doesn't really look like any of the hives are really cut off from the others by the marine start, which is good.

    Make sure L-shaped corridors aren't too long... otherwise w_polys can skyrocket when players look down both halls while standing at the elbow. Also, extremely detailed L-shaped corridors seem to cause VIS errors.

    argh, keep doing that, it's swarm not storm :/

    As for the double node, I'll probably add another vent from the central vent system.

    Visibility - Some corridors see through an awful lot of space, through the next room and onto the next corridor. In construction you'd have to put some hefty bends in to keep the vis stable. Also the corridor entering the MS from the north is quite long and no skulk would stand a change of attacking by that route. The south west hive can be seen (presumably) when a marine is standing in the corridor outside the hive. There should be a kink or door or something to make sure marines are inside a hive when attacking it.
