I think I played this game 6 or 7 times in classic survival. I did some review of the previous runs, but I can't find the links
I took my time for that last run. I built an extensive base (2 pools, 11 large rooms, including one 250m below in the jelly cave) ; I found all routes to the castle. I didn't chase the caches, because they can't really be found without cheating. I even had a hard time finding the one I remembered its location.
The game has much better balance in resource gathering. The the lack of maps and direction may be very had for new players. There may not be enough incentive to explore farther.
The adaptations of the landscape where very nice. I didn't used the "Cinematic" filter, even if it's more oppressive, it doesn't give justice to the work of the devs on the landscape.
In the end, I had a very good time playing this game. Sure there is no coop, but I doubt the game would have been better. I'm happy to see that solo game experience can still be of high quality while game industry lean heavily on multiplayer games.
To the devs : your game is a AAA game regarding its content. But the QA/testing should be work on for later games. I encounter several bugs, I probably would not have found on a AAA game (collision missing on wall, textures missing or not loading, fish spawning into base or into alien tank...)
Whatever negative stuff I had to find in order to not be qualified as blind fanboy, I'm a fan of Subnautica
I'm 46 and Subnautica is in my top list of game experience I'll remember.
- Doom (the first one) : first nice 3D game and fear feeling when fighting boss
- Final Fantasy 7 : fantastic story, music and design
- TrackMania : inventive design/play race car game.
- Minecraft : inventive survival/build mix game.
- Kerbal Space Program : education/science content and satisfaction for achieving your goal.
- Subnautica : original set up and fantastic immersion.
UWE, thank you for this experience. I'm eager to see more fantastic games from you studio.

This is easily in the top 5 games I've ever played and probably the most immersive -
I highly recommend this game -
Hoping that an expansion comes out soon -
Warzouz, I was just like "Whoa, that guy played the game for 270 hours! Impressive!"
I just checked my own 4 playthrough saves in classic survival and got 341 hours. Just like "WTF?!"
I played Subnautica first time in February 2017. And that is the save which got 6d19h. At this time (if I remember right) you had much less hints 'bout where to find several things as for example abandonned bases. It was an awesome and immersive game-experience. I played whole nights long just exploring every single corner of the map - everywhere might be something new! And it was extremely exciting as I found the bases.
I'm glad that the hints were integrated later because my first playthrough wouldn't have been so intensive as it was without them.
All in all - i can't remember one single game that cost me such an amount of time. Now that I've found all the stuff in the present playthrough and created some nice bases I guess I'm gonna restart once again. Just love it!
And Warzouz, as you say that the lack of map and direction might be hard for new players - well, that is (imho) rather a feature than anything bad. Compass and creatable beacons finally make sense in a game, never used such things in any game before that much.
The remaining bugs are truly annoying (the mentioned floating In-Base-Fishes, spawning fishes in Containment etc.), but thankfully almost none of them is gamebreaking.
A CoOp would be a very nice option though (not even a big multiplayer as e.g. ARK, just a little coop for 2 persons).
UWE, please keep up the very good work on Subnautica and extend the map etc. It's really one of the best games I've ever played, thanks for that!
EDIT: And the music! I just forgot to mention the background MUSIC! It's awesome!!! (1bil thumbs up for it, could listen to it all day long)
PS: Grammar might be a bit halting, did my best.
