In the beginning the lifepod is the only safe haven and then it is used less and less as bigger bases are built the transition period between a base and the lifepod can be long a good way to ensure the mood of complete hopelessness would be to have it destroyed like the others, there would be no warning and it would take place after the sunbeam explosion. You would come back to it to make dinner to discover it torn apart and see something purple disappear. I will have a poll about this going if you will please contribute your thoughts in that and this.

So basically there is no warning and you want it so people loose everything they keep in their lifepod? Yeah... that isn't smart. that will just cause a lot of rage and stuff.

That's not a good idea. Lifepod 5 is there to help in a case of a total screw up. It's the only permanent place of a fabricator and radio.

@Hulkie2345 and @jamintheinfinite_1 the creature would put a hole into the side of it and sink it like the others once you discover it the powercells would be half out to take and the storage would be accessible as well.

Still no. It is suppose to be a safe place. Having it destroyed wouldn't be fun.
