AIRPUMP SIDE-QUEST

LEVEL: Novice
LENGTH: Short
LOCATIONS: Safe Shallows (cliff area above eastern Jellyshroom Caverns)
HOSTILES: None
NEW FEATURES:
• Purge-able Cave (116,-95,-385)
REDEPLOYED FEATURES:
• Lockers
• Various loose ores and other resources.
• Abandoned PDA
QUEST REWARDS:
• A large cache of building materials

SYNOPSIS::
Player finds an abandoned locker with clues to an even greater a resource cache. Skilful construction of an air-pipe network allows the player to open the second cache and retrieve a reward of materials. The quest narrative hints at a broader Degasi narrative below in the nearby Jellyshroom caverns.

DETAILS:
Whilst exploring a submerged cliff top in the safe shallows the player discovers metallic object shrouded in weed (at 92,-30,-340) After cutting away the weed this turns out be a very battered locker. It lies askew with its doors wrenched from their hinges.
Within and around it are several items:
• 2x filtered water
• 12x Titanium ores
• 2x glass
• 1x air pump fragment
• 1x abandoned PDA

The PDA is one abandoned long ago by Bart Torgal. It reads as follows:
"Even Father sees it now - How beautiful the shallows here are! Now he urges for 'this' place to be our new home. But once this storm picks up I'm sure he'll see our need to go deeper still. Even if it we could make it safe enough, there's still no way I can gather all the energy my test-equipment needs. I must find time to gather all the materials from the way-point cache. If the storm get's strong enough it will certainly flood the cave. Better act fast. There's no way I'll get a water-tight locker open against 10 atmospheres of water-pressure."

The phrase '10 atmospheres of water-pressure' tips a knowledgeable player that 100m is a good depth to begin the search. A successful search turns up a medium cave directly below the first locker (at 116,-95,-385). Inside the cave is a ledge furnished with a row of watertight lockers. However, whilst the cave remains flooded none of the lockers can be opened. But this is a 'Purge-able' cave, meaning due to its shape it can be potentially cleared of water (it's roughly dome-shaped and only accessible from below).

The quest solution is to build an air pump on the surface with an pipe-line to the bottom of the cave. As the air fills the cave the water is displaced - the waterline gradually dropping as the air-pocket expands. The lockers can be easily opened once the cave's waterline drops beneath them. Inside the lockers are some materials Bart hoped to use when building the Jellyshroom Base (directly below and deeper still).
• 4x Titanium ingots
• 2x enamelled glass
• 12x copper
• 6x gold
• 2x oil
• 2x lubricant

COMPASS SIDE-QUEST

LEVEL: Novice
LENGTH: Short-Medium
LOCATIONS:
• Kelp Forest
• Safe Shallows,
EXISTING FEATURES USED:
• Abandoned PDA
• Locker
• Kelp weed plants
• A number of common supply items
NEW FEATURES:
• 2 small Pot-holes
REWARDS
• A number of common supply items

SYNOPSIS:
Player discovers directions to several resource caches. Careful compass navigation reveals each cache location, and correct tool-use provides access to its contents Throughout the player's PDA provides a snarky pep-talk by way of reciting an number of quotes about survival.

QUEST DETAILS:
Whilst exploring the Kelp Forest the player discovers Lifepod 3 (-21, -18, 410). Within can be found an additional 'Abandoned PDA'.
This PDA contains the following note:
"3 days now and still breathing! Just gotta keep finding the supplies before the Stalkers get em.
Safe storage codes:
ENE090.032
SSE140.023
WSW180.069
NNW090.087
Note to self: Remember tools!"

The astute player may surmise that these 'safe storage codes' are actually directions (The first three letters are a compass heading. The three digits preceding the period indicate a distance. The last three digits indicate depth)

By following these directions carefully the player can discover the following supply caches:

Tipped Locker (43,-32,436)
Found by following the direction-code ENE090.032. The locker has drifted here and now lies face-down astride a small fissure.
Because of is orientation it cannot be opened. To access the contents the player must move it so its door is no longer faces downwards
(for this propulsion cannon, repulsion cannon or attaching floaters should all prove effective).
This cache contains:

Coral Tube (1,-23,277)
Found by following the direction-code SSE140.023 The survivor has simply concealed supplies here within the tube.
These can be easily accessed by a player swimming through it, or else harvesting the coral until it is exhausted.
This cache contains: To be decided

Concealed Pothole (-195,-69,356)
Found by following the direction-code WSW180.069. The cached lies beneath an exiting low arch.
Its contents are contained within in a shallow depression, and are concealed by a mass of short kelp plants.
The player may use a knife to reveal the cache.
This cache contains: To be decided

Deep Pothole (-16,-87,466)
Found by following the direction-code NNW090.087.
This hole in the sea-floor is too narrow to enter and to deep for the player to reach the items at its bottom.
A player can lift out the items by using a propulsion cannon.
This cache contains: To be decided
