Blackout Mode

A great way to extend the amount of playtime you can get out of any game is giving it by adding new modes to vary up the gameplay.
One idea that I had is called "blackout mode"
In this mode, the sun will be constantly eclipsed by subnautica's smaller moon, leaving only the biggest moon one to provide light. You could explain that maybe the smaller moon orbits the planet very slowly, and every once in a long while it'd eclipse the sun for months on end. Or something.
The specifics don't really matter I guess.
Anyways, there'd be a few things about this mode that would also change. First off, instead of solar panels you'd have lunar panels, which collect only half of the normal energy you would get from the sun, and THAT'S during the largest moon's "full" phase. You would get almost no power during the "new moon" phase.
Besides a lame power shortage during the earlier parts of the game, there should also be a new monster. One that lurks exclusively in the darkness. Whenever the player is in an area where it is nearly pitch-black, they would hear several shrieks emanating from nearby. After about 5 seconds of being in the dark, they'd be attacked for 20 health points. From there, they'd be attacked over and over until they die or reach any light source.
Light sources count as any light from bioluminescent plants, your base, seamoth, flashlight, and the light from the largest moon (except during the new moon phase) Additionally, all of the game's bioluminescent plants would produce less light than normal, about 40% less.
The monster is inspired by the one from Don't Starve, which kills you if you spend too much time in the dark. And like it, this one does not have a physical form and disappears instantly in the light.
Fundamentally, this idea probably sucks. But I still think it'd be a cool, relatively easy to implement, and maybe even fun way to play the game.
