Missing databoxes?

Has anybody else had problems with databoxes being opened already when they found them? I've been watching my wife play for a few hours and she's come across five or six databoxes that have already been opened. One was in the Degassi base in the Jellyshroom cave. I don't remember any of the others, but they were mostly in the lifepods. I don't know if maybe it's a problem with our cache from older saves so I thought I'd see if others were noticing the same thing. We still have a couple saves from before the update.

I think there are duplicates of the same databox throughout the world, that when opened, opens the other one as well... This is just a theory... Happens to me to.

We were just talking about that possibility. That could also explain the blank PDAs she's found.

Yeah, if you already have the Data File, any copies in the game will be opened automatically.
I noticed that with the last update.
