I really want this feature in Stable - I have messed with spawning in the Transfuser with console codes, and while not fully finctional, I do like the direction it's going in. Now, if they stick with their original idea of Infusions lasting 10~15 seconds, I'll likely never use it.
The devs likely don't want to create a system where players are relying on one or two Infusions constantly, but they need to last at least three~five minutes to be practical to use. They could implement a cooldown on usage between injections: either "blood loss" like when eating too much, radiation or brine poisoning, or other detrimental effects.
However, what I'd like to see is if you depend on an Infusion too much, you're hit with a negative effect related to the bonus. Example: if you overdose on boosted swimming speed Serum, then your swimming speed is reduced as a penalty until you recover (aka tired muscles, reduced adrenaline etc). If you overdose on night-vision, then your sight is dimmed even in the daylight until you recover (aka strained ocular muscles or cornea).
So there's ways around it, but the Infusions really need to be stronger and last longer to be practical IMO.
